Tbh UFC was literally founded by BJJ guys looking to show that they can use their art to beat up people they otherwise would have no chance and no business fighting.

I liked that fight (and demian maia) for the historical aspect of how they fight their fights. it brings back the feeling of ufc 1 (im aware demian is much better btw)
 
I love Maia, he doesn't drop to his back and play footsies, he takes you down and controls the fuck out of you then eventually chokes you out.

I respect his skills, but he isn't getting a lot of fans with that style is all I am saying.

He has SO much experience in bjj and mma (much more than hall in both aspects) Of course he's going to do better and be more fun to watch than 5-1 (now 6-1 ) hall.

In this we agree. Norms exist for reason. I get that maybe the majority of viewers may not appreciate what Hall does, but some of us really appreciate creativity.
 
Complete garbage fight. Pretty sad on both people's behalves.

It just wasn't a great match-up stylistically. Like I said, would love to see someone who could potentially match his grappling like Ortega, or any other high level BJJ guy in that division.

Ortega ahahahahahahahahahahaha he has amazing bjj but could not come close to hall. His knee would get destroyed round 1.

Why do you think Grey was terrified to go to the ground with hall? He literally will make you need surgery after the fight if you mess up.

Truly a remarkable man.

I have no doubt in my mind that Ryan would have an easy time with Edgar. I mean, he completely outclassed the guy that came close to finishing Frankie several times.

I'm confused. Who is ortega in the BJJ world? Hall has medal-ed at worlds and ADCC. The only ppl in that div who can go on the ground with him and be "Safe" would be Penn and Aldo. (at top of my head)
 
I find pure BJJ guys to be equally boring to LNP wrestlers to be honest. Halls so fucking one dimensional it's ridiculous. I also think his BJJ is over-rated in MMA, he couldn't even fucking tap Lobov when he spent 15mins attached to his back.
