The question is how good is their leg lock defense? Traditional BJJ doesn't focus on the legs, they are starting to adapt now but for people who have been training it when the rest of the BJJ world wasn't gives them an advantage. Not all grapplers are the same, RDA, Olivera, Ortega all come from traditional Gracie BJJ so they will be more traditional style grapplers. Ryan Hall and the Danaher Death Squad is a more evolved version of the original Gracie BJJ that focuses more on the legs.

This is why a lot of mma fighters duck Hall, because there isn't much high level leg lockers in mma. Leg lockers get ducked in pure grappling competitions, so it's understandable that they would be ducked by mma grapplers as well.
