I'm just glad someone besides Foster and me remembers Welch. Dude was part of the powerhouse A's teams in the late 80s. I was a kid at the time but I definitely remember him, Dave Stewart (pure intimidation), and Rick Honeycutt (just because of his name).

Amazing how time flies. I remember thinking Kevin Seitzer was going to be great. He won ROTY about the time I really started playing baseball, was my first favorite player.

RIP Bob Welch. With the way pitchers are babied with pitch counts today, it's going to be awhile before someone else wins 27 games in a single season.

Marco Estrada needs to go. Hes given up 20 home runs this season, the next closest is Wade Miley with 14. That is fucking ridiculous. It wasnt a big deal before but now that his walk rate is up he cant be giving them up. He needs to go to the bullpen or DFA'd and Nelson get called up to replace him.

What's weird about him is his peripheral numbers are really good. He doesn't walk many, he gets his strikeouts, and gives up less than a hit per inning. Perhaps he'd be best served in a massive pitcher's park.

Oh yeah, all of that is true for sure. Most of the time he only gives up solo homers because of that. However his walk rate has gone up the last month so hes getting burned more.

A pitchers park probably wouldnt make much of a difference. It doesnt matter where he plays, home or away he gives at least one or two home runs a game. Last 2 starts, today at Citi Field and last start at Target field hes given up grand slams.

When he got hurt they put Rendon at 3b, and Espinosa at 2b they liked the hitting they got out of them. It should only stick until Harper comes back from DL.
