International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V7

Logical. But I consider the sanctions to be absolutely pointless if Russia is making more money than ever before off its fossil fuels for selling less.

I also consider those companies profiteering to be absolutely absurd.

If you want to effect Russia simply undercut them in pricing.. it's the most logical step. But rather than that being on the table it's fleece everyone and make record profits.. it's a joke to me.

Oil companies are profiteering, but we live in a capitalist, free market economy and therefore can't order them to undercut Russia unless we nationalize the oil industry. So sanctions are the only option to fight them economically.

I think the problem for many people is expectations... Sanctions aren't going to kill them over night. Just like most economic policies, they will be a slow burn that will take time to be fully felt. In the long term, the markets will stabilize also, and if this conflict is still dragging on, that's when Russia's economy will really suffer.

Once again. Completely get your point. But I don't see it working in regards to their fossil fuel exporting.

If you're unable to undercut Russia due to not having the production capabilities. There's no way sanctions are going to stop people from buying from Russia.. winter will be far far more profitable.
If the west could get SA and OPEC to start pumping like crazy they could both have the sanctions and kill them with pricing. In fact SA did this not too long ago and Russia had to eat the loss. Unfortunately our "allies" are worse than enemies at times like these.

There is one good for long term solution: government should establish their owned oil company.
Sorry, I know that for casual westerner this might look weird and even something bad. It isn't....
Energy sector always required long term planning.
Not businessmans lurking for short term profits or....elections cycle ! for politicians.....

___
Only one way to deal with death Prince and Iran& Russia is to....drop down crude oil prices....

This is doable with 2_methods...
1. Reduce consumption.
2. Increase production.

Both together are achievable only with oil corp owned by government and long term planning.

If we will not be able to drop crude oil prices....
We will after 5, 10 , 15 , 20 years have the same problems as today....
THE SAME...

Just looked it up and saw that The Baltic states have higher inflation than Russia, lmao

Why don’t we have tanks that have the same gun as an A-10? I imagine a tank having two of those bad boys on top of it would be formidable.
I think an avenger would just be too big. I think you'd have to replace the turret and hollow out the inside of the tank. The A-10 was actually designed around the cannon so I imagine the same would have to be done for a tank.

Same as in Ukraine or do you forget Ukraine even imprisoned opposition politicians and political parties? This old man also was defending nazism but you wont resd that in your report as it ignored it. In Russian sources this is what he did
Do you think Russians get accurate reporting?

You guys are still on the "Build the wall" bandwagon?
I don't know about you but I'd rather have infrastructure for our soldiers than an unsupported border wall. Campaign rhetoric and keeping the base happy I guess.

Their "trade surplus" (nice way of spinning it) is a result of them not being able to import anything due to sanctions.

Russia's entire economy is basically dependent on exporting fossil fuels and not much else.... it is heavily reliant on imports for machinery, semiconductors and equipment. It doesn't have businesses that innovate like the West, and it doesn't have the manufacturing of the far East.

Its not really in a good spot at all... its economy is predicted to shrink by 10% this year and its inflation is predicted to be at 16% or more. Obviously they aren't going to admit that so the only thing they can do right now is "cook the books" the best they can.
You’re arguing with a troll. However there are a number of posters that latch on to some deceptive metric and really do believe that these sanctions have somehow been great for Russia

goonerspew, el karlo and this joker are all white guys living in japan, all come across as raging incels.
There was also that weirdo from Japan that drew those really gay pictures of him and Mark Hunt. I forget his name but he was a sherdogger and actually Japanese.

There’s a few cool posters from Japan though too. I wouldn’t count this snowblind guy in either count. He’s just a troll. Who knows if anything he says is even true.

Yeah.
This of course suits for Russia's propaganda a lot.

Because even with the same natural gas.
Casuals are thinking that price hike is just cos " bad europe " had sanctioned Russia and ....let's be more open: hidden idea here for such posts is....
" bad west ".

_
In some situations I think their governments did wrong and should had allowed ppl to start suffer earlier...

In 2021 th one company had applied to get permit from regulator to increase electricity transmission fees for ....private non commercial clients ...
Regulator didn't allowed this and...only now, after 18 months. they had allowed.

Ofc regulars are thinking that now everything is bad cos ukraine stuff.....
The stuff is that actually when you are paying for electricity, you are paying to multiple companies: network operator ( btw usually they are 2! ) and for stuff that you have connection ( fee ) + " green stuff subsidies " + tax man and ....last stuff in this all chain is ...power plant....

__
About the same natural gas: they " battled " with regulator and politicians 9 months before had been allowed to rise sales prices for fixed contracts...

Ofc there had been another solution awailable to implement: to use your tax money to bail out natural gas sales companies ...

+ there too are multiple companies in chain: NG storage, operator for storage + company with lage pipelines + company with smaller pipelines and....company maintaining natural gas consumption counters in flats, houses etc.

Ofc such large chain with companies....doesn't make prices lower..

BTW I really understand why guys are eveding conscription.

Ofc now there is relatively huge risk to be sent somewhere and get shelled with Grad launcher...for example and then vuala...yeah...

In USSR times concurrence level when applications for uni was....really high...even to be allowed to do entry exams...
Cos this was smooth way to evade regular military service in full it's form...

BTW...students ( not always ) too might get....hazing. Sometimes it might be very brutal btw...not more safe than in military.
While usually it is just once..

If in USSR military you weren't lucky and get in place with bad boys....sorry...it might be on daily basis...
For example 6 months in row...year in row...
