Better quickly started to boost up more add ....equipment for national guard ( already existing ) and pro service....

I might imagine that in worst scenario he is thinking that more bodies = already is better....

It resembles me one nice country....where before famous 11.09 th... one politician assumed that with modern body armour and weapons from 1960 th era. for pro anti terrorism unit is...more than enough....I don't mean here riot control unit ....
After 11.09 th stuff had changed and quickly $$$$$$$ had been allocated to buy normal stuff.
Next real interest to supply them better was after some id...took hostiges in drugstore. Unit managed to do job smoothly, politicians with wet pants again didn't hestitated to allocate x xxx xxx.

Like with illegal immigrants and smuggling; before had shit coming in mouth, looked on this like; just big waste of money...
After this....different approach.

Before 2008th it was...really relax mode about military and no one mando service might had changed this reality.
 
Btw, stuff about interest isn't that bad.
During Covid era number of appliciants for pro military service increased. The same about concurrence for places in police colleges...
Now with stuff cos russia...almost 1k appliciants to serve for free in national guard...

Due to covid era number of appliciants for border guard and custom services too had increased.

@SandisLL How do you think, does this decision have something to do with the previous NATO summit that happened a week ago? The timing is amazing.

Maybe Washington ordered us to do this. Or maybe the summit didn't fufill our expectations, we got a reality check and have to resort to this to cover ourselves.

Because this feels like a rushed decision. I like it, but it feels very sudden. No prior discussion.

We begin next year. Deal with it. Pabriks flipped his stance upside down. In february he was screaming louder than anyone that mandatory service isn't happening, when the topic first came up.

I think that reason is the same as cos about " bad monuments " stuff...
Elections in autumn...

afaik since Obama ....U.S had attempted to encourage more invest in heavy equipment etc and rise stocks etc....

Summit ofc didn't had fultfilled expectations cos still looks that some old dudes in europe are looking like on ....cheap resin buffer....
While IRL...patrols etc had been boosted since 24.02.2022 and damn quickly. In few hours.

+ IMHO some old wrecks in europe had get nice lecture from ECB and Co....about reality...

They anyway agreed to increase buget for military for 2022 th and later even boost up this.
These are expenses for pro military and equipment for pro military and national guard....
Ofc cos financial reasons about mando no one had attempted to talk even last month.
While budget >2% GDP and further boost up during next 3 years each year had been negotiated to confirm....

So if we there will add mandatory service...then ....minister of finances will have duty to think where to get additional money...
Because with current scenario= pro + national guard....~ 2,3% GDP and later 2,5% GDP and probably later MORE already is negotiated....

So simple thing here: with mando military service plus this ALL already existing; there will be really necessity to add $$ to all this....

& besides this we will need boost up for police, border guard, anti terrorism measures and units + custom services...
There looks that aren't any problems today to get guys willing to work...
While $ for equipment and salaries etc should be found somewhere to increase also budgets for these.

Looks that at least today artis at least isn't ready to abolish pro service system; stuff I had been concerned about. Cos you in no case are able to replace a pro with 4-15 years experience with....conscript...

I'm not against mando service in it's core IF....
1. Priority still will be equipment etc ....
2. Pro service as paid work will be kept as it is today...
Cos these we can't replace with conscripts in no case even in dreams...
+ they does have cheap resource: National Guard too...where expenses per 1 guy are considerably lower than if mando service guy is used....

Therefore National Guard should be kept as it is and ofc supplied better and better....
 
When we had " holy " saviour mandatory military service as miracle tool....
Doctrine was that first hits will take border guards and lads from custom and local police +/// National Guard...

After this...holy angels from regular military mando service....

Didn't looked cool at all.

6 former Gazprom dudes already before this had been found died.
Usually claimed that these were suicide cases or accidents....

I might imagine how angry is Putin and United Russia lads and their best friends in France and Hungary & Germany just to see how Poland, Lithuania and Finland are able to live without Russia's natural gas....

I believe he maybe one of the few that was critical of Putin on going in to Ukraine from Gazprom? There where a lot of big names who did not believe the war was a good idea.
