We have in xx countries more real " refugees " from Russia...
25+ years in row...
Usual trademark: they didn't had talked about politics on their own initiative and better opted just to integrate in western business, education and social scene+ aren't even commenting much about stuff today. ...
While reason was . ...real FEAR..
When someone does have real fear he doesn't talk much about this....

While for me more honest looked silent and calm hard working expats from Russia before even 2009 th...

Not alone if to compare with specimens crying today about " bad Putin "...

If someone in 2007 th had answer to my question WHY....
he told plain and simple; I don't want to see my property taken and my life broken...

Simple and clear admitting that person is selfish and hypocrite while... at least doesn't pretend to be something else.
Unlike Kremlin's " critics " prophets appearing on the scene after 2008 th big shit launched by Kremlin....

TL;DR reason is the fear of increase of Russian intelligence service involvement in our domestic affairs and attempts to create unrest in society by the new arrivals. There's also fear of domestic terrorism. Our security services are very busy apparently.

Here it is. Basically, if you're a Russian citizen, you can only come here to attend a funeral of a relative. All else will get you turned back at the border.

Telegram is created by Durov, a creator for a popular Russian social platform VK, which was taken away from him because he wouldnt let FSB have users' personal information. So he fled the country to Dubai and made TG. Or that's how the story goes. My point is, TG is not government affiliated.

TG is full !!! with pro Kremlin oriented posters and like VK, odnoklassniki etc and Tik Tok is on scope for some friends from China and Russia....
+ all this " confidentiality " is from simple thing: where server physically is located ...

Well this IMHO is normal.
Because maybe you don't know that we had stuff like " even if you have valid visa for any reason " you still might be blocked to enter country for example from airport or harbour ( port ) or bus station....
IF immigration officer will see something suspicious or this country maybe few minutes ago had listed you as susp...

We had even such stuff some years ago with... Belarus...Russia...China... U.S....etc...
