During the Regan administration gas was cheap because there was a huge oil surplus (1980s oil glut) caused by demand destruction that followed the oil shortage in the 70s.

Now it's the opposite, we've had an oil shortage due to production cuts during the pandemic even prior to the Russian invasion. Sanctions or not, gas would not be cheap, and buying from them would empower their war machine. Also this has nothing to do with the environment.

Nuclear war is quite survivalable. Just need a fallout shelter unless directly hit. I'm a little concrened where I live smack dab in middle of three military bases in Pensacola FL but most America will be fine in all out nuclear war.
