Russia has no interest in absorbing whole of Ukraine especially its western part that has never traditionally been close to Russia.

What Russia wants is Ukraine to be a militarily neutral state, sever all ties with NATO, stop receiving weapons from the West stop persecuting Russian speaking population and stop destroying Russian language culture.

Russia WILL absorb all of the Russian speaking Ukraine and prevent it in their terms.

Russia has no chance in taking over the whole of Ukraine either, so the longer this drags on the more willingness Russia will have to actually negotiate in good faith.


This would be like arguing that South Korea should just had surrendered to save lives because they had no chance to win.

If Ukraine doesn’t give up right now, they will continue losing their land while their economy, which is pretty much done already, will be sinking even more, more men will die or flee the country, more women and children will choose to leave the country and never come back.

This would be like arguing that South Korea should just had surrendered to save lives because they had no chance to win.

Again, Russia does not need the whole of Ukraine. They will take the remaining path of Donetsk region, parts of Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, at that point they can decide what’s next depending on the situation.

While Ukraine may have a slim chance to retake all territories they can still defend what they have with cheap mines, drones and weapons, they resisted Russia for several months before the West decided to give them heavy weapons.


Russia can't conquer Ukraine with the resources it has.
