Apparently the source is a pretty reliable person, but as with any rumor take it with a grain of salt.

If true, I'm disappointed in a dual release. That would make the Wii U the only Nintendo console not to have an exclusive Zelda game. The gender option I'm ok with if it makes more people want to play the game. To me Link should always be male but I see nothing wrong with an option to choose. It worked great for Pokémon. The voice acting isn't necessary at all imo. If it's all Hylian gibberish with subtitles that would be fine, but actual actors are meh. At least Link would stay the silent protagonist.
 
Having a gender option in a Zelda game shows just how pussified everything is now.
That's lame. Link is the main protagonist and always will be imo.

I can't see them doing the same for any Metroid game.

They better make the female an entirely different character. If it's just Link with tits, then Nintendo can go to Hell.

Actually, female Link probably wouldn't even have tits. That would objectify women. So female Link will probably just end up looking like...male Link.

Why not a black Link? #blacklinksmatter

Probably can plan as either Link or Linkle. Linkle is a pre-established character in the series, but has not been in a true game in the series.

I hate SJWs (and their so-called "inclusivity" a.k.a. tokenism) as much as the next guy, but let's be honest here: has Link's gender ever mattered?

Ruins the point of the game. The entire series is about Link trying to impress Zelda enough to get that princess poontang.

I don't understand why people freak out when a movie/game/comic book does something different with a character or story that is almost 30 years old. Would it be so bad if they changed genders to switch it up?? I don't think so. Whatever medium it is, it needs to evolve to stay fresh.
 
I always thought Link was gay anyways, and Zelda was his sister.

It'd be cheap but I'm almost positive if they do give you the female option it'll be Linkle. Fuck Linkle.
 
if this is true that means I don't have to buy a Wii U and will go straight to the NX system...

This is exactly what I was thinking reading this thread. Who cares? Play as male link and enjoy the zelda games the way you always have. What do you care if someone else can pick a female version. To me giving choices like that to the consumer is always a great choice.
