i didnt get to watch Wales v Uruguay.

is there a legitimate excuse for why it was that close?

getting concerned for Wales, here.

Eddie Jones has been one of those coaches that are finishers... There are a few coaches that seem to be able to get the most out of a team over a short period of time.. but keep them there for too long and the players tune out and the team is terrible.

In Kiwi league circles, "Bluey" McLennan is one that springs to mind. Great with the Kiwis in that he can inspire the players over a short 3-4 week window... Put him at the helm of the Warriors and he couldn't get much out of the team over 9 months. In his defence, the Warriors are.... no good but it's a huge swing from his successes as the Kiwis coach. It was probably way too hard to drive that sort of passion over that long period of time

He has a massive ego, I've got a mate who played for him at the Reds in 2007 and he wasn't a big fan of how he picked players off how they got on with him rather than their quality of play at the time. That mates currently refereeing this world cup lmao.

Nic Berry's a half back... He's been a ref all his life!

I think most have got a larger than average ego to be able to make it to that level

I also know a very famous fullback who is not a big fan of Eddie Jones. He rubs people the wrong way, and if they rub him the wrong way even slightly they get cut.

That's normal with most coaches. They want players to do what they want.

In NZ circles, I don't know what Christian Cullen did to John Mitchell but that man ended his career.

Probably his love of Carlos Spencer.

This one still gets me angry... The kicker? I believe one of the wingers at the time was Caleb f'in Ralph.

From Wiki (so take with a grain on salt:
"
Cullen and Mitchell's personal differences went unresolved over time. Cullen was selected to and dropped from the All Blacks squad throughout 2002. He scored four tries in the five Test matches that year.
"

Try replacing Chris Latham for Mat Rogers lmao

Also Cheika selecting Petaia and Kerevi as centres this weekends shows they'll be targeting Tuilagi's channel for the first 40 minutes. He's the weakest link in Englands back line defence wise, and he'll only have eyes for Kerevi, but now he has a powerful mobile 13 in Petaia to worry about as well.

I liked Mat Rogers. In general, I think the guys that crossed over from league to union did well. About the only one I thought was a bit meh was Andrew Walker off the top of my head.

I told someone yesterday that the game will be decided pretty much by the outcome of when Kerevi or Tuilagi get the ball for the first time and decide to run at the other.

It'll be decided from that because it'll either be a red card or a double concussion lmao

Rogers & Sailor flattered to deceive.

Also, this (hats off to the wonderful, wonderful Aussie commentators - the best in the business):

Aus could well win this. They always raise their game, and this one will he settled by turnovers and groundwork. Hooper/Pocock has more experience than Curry/Underhill, but the England boys have the greater “youth” energy. Whoever wins the back row battle, and in midfield, goes onto the Semis, and that won’t definitely be England.

England
NZ
SA
Wales

That being said, the Aussies can raise their game when they see a white shirt.
I think we are too strong this year though and edge the Aussies by 6-10 points.

The England Australia game is the one which can really go either way. I think the other three quarter finals will go as predicted.

Yeah Rogers and Lote were good and always thought Dell Sailor was half and half at Union.
