Royce Da 5'9

One of the few post 2000 rappers I actually like.

My first account on Sherdog was royceda59

True story

Royce is way easier on the ear now. Eminem has lost his way and tries to do too much on tracks. Sometimes it works like on Caterpillar with Royce but more often it's awful, like that track with Conway The Machine.

Em is one of my Top 5 MCs of all time but I have to agree with this.

It seems like he tries way too hard now on tracks and has been that way for several years now. Like he's trying to out rhyme himself all the time. I mean, listen to his Mariah Carey diss The Warning and check his flow on that track. It was damn near flawless for 3 straight minutes. He did the same with Killshot (MGK diss). Just a natural flow on beat. So I know for a fact he's just being extra for the sake of it.

Just wish he did more of his songs like those and like "The Ringer" of off Kamikaze. The saying 'less is more' couldn't be more appropriate.

Yep, he's trying to come up with the most complicated rhyme schemes ever. I've never been a big Jay Z fan, but everything he says about writing rhymes is true "putting words together just 'cause they match up" and when he talks about making your lyrics fit the gaps of the beats so your voice is like another instrument on the track. Em does the complete opposite these days.

LOL @ that dude calling me a wigger... Aright that was actually funny.

But still nobody can make a counter against Royce as far as actual rapping goes. Nobody in here made any type of legit argument. I kinda figured it would go this way though

I'll give you Eminem, Nas or Lupe.. Or black thought. Some of you weirdos into Tech 9.. That's about it.

Dude Royce can't even touch a dude like Lushlife or Ceschi and Royce is considered mainstream. Listen to more Hip-hop and you will see and hear how overrated Royce is.

These 2 tracks annihilate anything Royce has done.

Em has been shit since 2003
I never really liked the guy, but if I had to narrow down when I really didn't like him, I'd say this is a good year.

Actually, the only the time can I can say that I liked him was in 1999 on the Chronic 2001 album. His first couple albums were okay but I just never really got the hype.

I don't get it. Why isn't Royce at least as famous as Eminem..? Is it because he doesn't make commercial music? Too lyrical?

1A) Royce
1B) Lupe
2) Eminem
3) Nas
4) Black Thought
5)Rakim/Andre/Big L
100) Drake/Jay-z

Unlike 2-5 Royce has never failed on a track. This dude comes with 100% bars every single time and has out-rapped Eminem numerous times. Check out Above the Law, Fast Lane, Welcome 2 Hell.. 75% of the time Royce wins. Only white chicks and old people think Eminem is a better rapper.. Like come on..Really? Eminem is boring as fuck.. I don't know a single person that actually listens to his music more than once.

Be honest..how many times have you listened to Rap God?

Why isn't Royce at least top 5 on every list? This dude has dropped 10,000 more bars than Eminem and Jay-Z have total songs.

Royce's Bar Exam albums actually hold up over time. Go listen to Bar Exam 1 and tell me that shit is whack...Good luck though

He doomed his career by adding that 5’9 shit.. it’s one thing to be a manlet, but to associate it with his name every time it’s brought up is a risky career move.

Then how the hell has Em been outselling nearly every artist across all the music genres after 2003???
I guess Taylor Swift is the fucking GOAT then.
Em stans are weird. He literally wrote a song about what creepy fucking psychos you guys are and you still persist sucking his dick.

“Old Town Road” must be high on your list then huh?

If you didn't have the Eastern Conference Conference AllSTars III tape your opinion is irrelevant Old Man
I had the full fuckin tracksuit that came with the first album, wore that sweater for years til it fell off me

Sandbox yo

Lil Sci is awesome. Royce has bit his lines a lot , but Royce is also a fan who pays homage. Sci is right there in the top 5 conversation.. Very deep. introspective rapper. Could never argue against him.

But as far as Lupe goes.

I missed your reply earlier so I'll check out these Lupe tracks later...

But if you like Lil Sci check out this freestyle on Spittin In Da Whip, this is a true skilled emcee getting shit thrown at him and coming off the dome without a stutter
Beat is addictive too

It's the same with a Taylor Swift. If she wasn't any good at what she does, she would have been long gone by now. The public can be fickle as hell and you have to work hard to stay relevant in order to sell out arenas and stadiums across the world.

U2, The Rolling Stones, or even metal acts like Iron Maiden are still selling out arenas after all these years and according to your logic, they haven't been "good" for decades either.

Em may not be as 'good' as he was when he first started but the man can still rhyme and put on a good show. And that's why we still talk about him after nearly 20 years

Man after hearing your tastes, I'm curious to know what you think about this guy. I swear nobody has even heard of this dude, and to me he's as dope as anyone out there.

You dissed me for liking Royce and then diss pop music and Em stans and Lil Nas X in one post lol..

I bet we probably have the same tastes mostly. I don't get the Royce hate tbh. The dude goes in 99% of the time he touches the mic and has never been friendly to the masses.

You said Mistah Fab beat Royce... For real??? How? In some random rap 'battle' that Royce didn't even know was a battle, and was just spitting written bars against a battle rapper..and he still did fine. That whole Fab shit is seriously lame.. I feel like even you know this. Imagine Mistah Fab (WHO?) going at Royce in a real battle on wax. Oh wait..that already happened.

Funny how after this came out 'calls were made' and everyone squashed it. Kinda like Tory Lanez when he spoke up. and then they had a 'productive call' afterward and dude apologized. Royce dissed D12 like 4 times and Eminem just let them go at him and have their whole careers destroyed.. Come on broo you won't even post Mistah Fab's diss against this.. No way you can claim he 'won' lol

I know of Ceshi, never head of Lushlife tbh.Royce didn't get 'mainstream' (which he still isnt to me, just look at the posts in this thread) for like 15 years at least lol

But yes he can definitely 'touch' those guys lyrically.
