Tonight on ESPN classic,

Thats all.

ESPN has really been coming through for boxing.

Did you catch all the stuff the showed this weekend? Tons of great old showtime bout, a couple I'd missed.

There was also a Bernard Hopkins "Beyond the Glory" on Fox sports or whatever its called now.

Hell yea! I watched Joel-JLC the other day. Its all started with FNF's. The minute they ditched Max and brought in fighters HBO and Showtime started to loosen up their rules. We hired a dude from ESPN who was telling me how it all went down.

Seano...where do you live? did FSN change names on you? If so whats the name now? PM if you don't want to be found out. I ask because well...I might work for the station you're referring too.

How did that go down with Ma K not doing FNF no more?

have to make this quick...so excuse me if this make no sense. Its cheaper to get a fighter (travel + expenses) than it was to hire a full-time co-host. Having someone tell me what Winky thinks is different from hearing it from Winky himself.

ESPN gets help from promoters, Showtime, and HBO to get the fighters to come in the studio. The reason? The fighter on set is worth more in marketing than almost anything else they can do.

Also...the interviews of the two fighters before mega fights helps promote the event. Now...HBO and SHO never let anyone else use they're footage. ESPN convinced them both its a great marketing tool. All sides get what they want. ESPN gets the best footage and HBO and SHO get the courtesy + free marketing.

All sides win.

ESPN gets a boost in ratings, which make advertisers happy.
HBO and SHO get a few more viewers.

I don't see when this comes on. I see Bruno/Lewis at 8 and then at 12 I see another boxing show but the description says it took place in 1960. What time is this coming on??

I'm not sure what happened, I guess it was removed. I couldn't find it on any on line guide either. :icon_neut

I went home for lunch and checked the program guide and its not on. Unles it was on earlier than I thought. (?)

Loser thread. Ban.

edit- I know it was on because I do a search for "boxing" every morning in the program guide. The title of the show was as I listed it.

I tivo'd it. It's was on at 1 pm pst.

Oh good.

Credibility- restored.

I thought it was on this evening.

Oh well, at least I got everyone excited for a show they all missed.
