Seems like if Stipe loses we could possibly see them matched up again.

Do Rothwell backers still think he can bully Stipe because after Sunday ID think most people would favor Stipe.

Again? They've never fought. They were going to, but it fell apart.

I think that what he meant by matched up again.

I thought Stipe could beat Rothwell before the JDS fight and certainly after.

If Rothwell fights anything like he did in the JDS fight, I can see Stipe taking the fight if they get matched.

Ben wasn't ruined by JDS so his next opponent is in trouble.

I have high hopes for Stipe. I'm picking him to beat Werdum.

Id root for Ben but its another bad style matchup for him. Whats good for him is Stipe isnt nearly as fast in entry and exit, foot or hand speed and Stipe is more willing to lock up which also may be good for Rothwell. Ben would probably have more opportunity to land and get his hands on Stipe than JDS.

Terrible matchup for Rothwell that would look a lot like yesterday's fight with JDS, I think. The only thing working in Rothwell's favor here would be that Stipe's chin isn't anywhere near as tough as JDS's, so if he were able to land something he could either knock him out or stun him long enough to twist his head off with the Gogo Choke.

at this point, nothing in the heavyweight division would surprise me. I could envision mark hunt being 45 and winning the title with a walk off KO.

I think that is a bad pick, I hope you don't put money on it. Stipe is a beast, but he isn't beating Werdum.

I'd never put money on a heavyweight fight regardless. Werdum will be the obvious favorite but we'll see.

That is probably good advice for all of us. However, I feel pretty good about Stipe's chances against the rest of the division. Stipe v Reem would probably give me pause though.

Hunt is the type of fighter who ages well because his talents aren't really the type that fade as one gets older. Someone like Anderson Silva relies on his reflexes above all else, while Hunt has basically found success due to being tough and strong. He's also a good striker and deceptively quick with good timing, but it's his power and durability that do the trick most of the time. If he wants to stick around I don't see any reason he couldn't fight another 3 or 4 years.

I think it would look a lot like Stipe/Hunt.

He would probably pick him apart with strikes similar to JDS, but I see him also mixing in some takedowns and exhausting him.

Of course a big ox like Ben always has a good chance of landing a big shot.

I have Rothwell beating Stipe. I think Rothwell pressures Stipe up against the cage and fucks him up.

Hard to say for sure but on the face of it potentially a better than than JDS for Rothwell. Stipe did well exploiting Jnr's weakness to beign backed up as he's quicker than Rothwell but he's also not as dangerous from range as Jnr and shooting for takedowns on Big Ben probably isn't the best idea.

Depends if Stipe can employ his grappling prowess.

Stipe beats Rothwell, and this has nothing to do with the Rothwell/JDS fight.

And to the guys that keep referring to Stipe getting beat by Struve: the TKO came clearly after an eye-poke the ref didn't see ...

Stipe isn't as fast as JDS, but he still has solid boxing. It'd be an interesting fight. Stipe also has different ways to grind Ben down.
