People talk too much about Ronda using a bad gameplan (thinking she could strike with Holly), suggesting that that is why she lost the fight. Ronda herself has said she was "out" after the first punch Holly landed. I actually believe that. It was similar to the knee Jones landed on Shogun early in the fight. The rest of the fight was Jones fighting a zombie version of Shogun who was more or less "not there". Difference is, I think Jones would still beat Shogun, whereas Ronda beats Holly 7 times of out 10 by taking her down and subbing her. Yea, Holly was able to defend Ronda's takedown attempts for the most part, but that was a zombie Ronda. Also, the sub attempt Ronda had on Holly was sluggish compared to her usual self. I suspect that would've been the end of the fight had Ronda not had her clock cleaned earlier in the fight.

I'm delighted that Ronda lost, but don't expect her to lose to Holly again. Holly is NOT a "bad matchup". She simply caught Ronda early, similar to how McG caught Aldo, only difference is Ronda survived to fight for a few more minutes in zombie mode. That gave people the impression that Holly is on a whole other level striking-wise and that her takedown defense is impeccable. This is not the case.

Don't bring shogun into this!

She lost because she's not a good striker and relies almost entirely on clinch takedowns.

Fedor relied almost entirely on clinch takedowns. He could take down any striker he damn well wanted.

Odd, that zombie version of Shogun is present in all his fights the last...5 years.

You people and your excuses...

It's a well known fact on Sherdog that Jon has zero power, so how could Shogun be "out on his feet" from a knee?

She lost because she didn't know what to do. She pretty much KO'd herself by bull rushing non stop.

She went out as a warrior though.

Well, I agree that she was shook/ hurt after the first big punch. Tough to blame the rest of the fight on that though. I think Shogun was really rocked badly after that knee.

For Ronda, I hank it was accumulation. She kept taking them and I think it was a compounding effect. By the time she told the shin to the neck, she was barely there.

She didn't know what to do because her clock was cleaned. Without that, Holly would've been on the ground getting subbed. Sad to say this. Good on Holly catching Ronda early, but the rest of the fight means little as Ronda was already out mentally, basically fighting in a sluggish auto-pilot mode.

Whiteknight is thinking

"must defend da honor of Ronda!"

"I will drag down Shogun too!"

I hate Ronda. Ronda losing was the best day in MMA. But let's be real...

Ronda just fights like that anyway. Watch any of her old fights and look at the standup. She was not out in her feet, she was just a deer caught in headlights.

To be fair, Shogun probably has more white (closet) knights than Ronda.

Signed.

Agree to disagree.
