Wrestling is strange in that it's essentially an acting job, but a lot of fans seem to appreciate the effort and the grind that other wrestlers put in, so someone like Ronda or Charlotte Flair coming in and getting everything handed to her, would cause the fans to cheer for someone who has been doing it for years and didn't have particularly favourable booking (like Becky Lynch).
Ronda did a great job, as does Charlotte, but creative need to be more on the pulse about how fans think.
Same thing with Roman Reigns run just after The Shield. Aside from being given really, really shitty scripts, he wasn't terrible, but the fans really got behind Daniel Bryan, a more authentic wrestler who had been through the grind for years and was trying to break that glass ceiling.
