Cyborg didn’t look helpless against the cage to me at all. Did you see Holm’s back, ass and hamstrings every time they hit the cage? Completely taut. See was burning at 100% and I think it was part of Holm’s/Jackson’s strategy to try and hold her there for Octagon control points. She attempted no knees, no dirty boxing. Just hold on and push at 100% effort for 15-20 seconds, then throw it in full reverse, push off and skip halfway back across the Octagon.

Conversely, against the cage, Cyborg was often dangle-armed (over top so Holm couldn’t hit her in the head) and expending 50% of Holm’s effort. Not fighting for underhooks and relaxing. She wasn’t concerned at all.

Did you see Cyborg’s abdomen between rounds? She wasn’t even breathing hard, while Holm was on full throttle the entire fight. It was a testament to Holm’s conditioning that she didn’t burn out, because she was in fight-or-flight for 30 straight minutes.

In the last 2 rounds, you could see Cyborg throttle up to 80-100% a few times and she would push Holm around.

If you thought Cyborg was “helpless” at any point during that fight, I would have to respectfully suggest that you did not understand what you were watching.

Cyborg got womanhandled by Holm against the cage, deal with it. When the opponent is a lot more skilled than Cyborg, this is how it looks against Holm.
