NoCan they force them to fight?
I believe it is a maximun of five years if you still have fights left on your conract. It would be too easy for fighters to just say i retire only to show up in Bellator 3 months later UFC will wait them out. Some fighters have been granted release but not often you have to be one of Dana's favorite kids. No, you can't be forced to fight but they can extend your contract and essentially hold you hostage. You can't go fight anywhere else and if you do they will sue the living hell out of you, so saying you are retired doesn't really mean much in terms of contracts.
With the newish sunset clause UFC used to be able to hold fighters for a 12 month matching clause but now it's only 4 that's why Francis was able to fight soon. This part only pertains to when a fighter has fufilled his contract and fought all the fights.
This is clear. But if you don’t fight, why give samples for years?
This is a bit odd to me as well but perhaps they do to avoid being sanctioned by USDA just in case they do want to make a return? Me, I'd tell them to fuck off if I was retired and not give a shit about sanctions.
Yeah for this i guess if he's clean and has nothing to worry about and still thinks he might come back he wouldn't have to re enter the pool and wait the six months but that is pretty much null and void now with USADA gone. Reminds me of a guy i worked with years back he had some crazy goal to reach a million dollars working crazy overtime and a job on the weekend like a million dollars ain't shit these days so all for naught really killed himself working for what in todays financial climate a million dollars isn't much at all. It is never too good to plan to far ahead cause times change. Point being i don't think Travis would have kept doing it had he had the foresight to know USADA would eventually be gone. Sorry i went off a bit there tl:dr lolStay ready so you don't have to get ready
