Rockhold could go either way but he is chiney. So prime Anderson would tko or ko him.

Mousasi and Weidman also own him. Weidman did. Weidman got caught by Rockhold he wins rematch

Weidman did own Anderson
Weidman just got caught against Rockhold but Romero and Mousasi are better than Weidman.

Romero is heavy handed, solid chin, explosive freakish strong Olympic wrestler. Exactly what is nigtmare for anderson

I agree, it's a horrific matchup for Anderson, I've always said this. Andy's TDD is too poor, Romero could take him down at will.

Yeah, I can see that happening.

Randomly explosive and precise if Anderson is stuffing around and the wrestling to manhandle him if striking goes bad.

Anderson was fortunate enough to fight in a weak era. In his prime, he’d be top 5 but no way would have been champion for that long with murderers row.

Prime anderson beats anyone in MW.. he only lost because he thought he was roy jones/michael jackson... and usda i guess.

If Anderson ever clowned, Romero would knee him into oblivion

Obviously still has a chance... but the guys now would be a lot tougher than the fights he had in his prime.

I would put Dan Henderson and TRT Belfort against anyone you can name today.

Anderson has range on Romero and striking. Would have been a hell of a fight.

A fighter wins a fight, so he’s proclaimed the greatest ever.

Sherdog gonna Sherdog.

Hindi!

I love how the opinion is divided by join date on sherdog.
Prime Silva would make Romero look like he couldn't differentiate his ass from his elbow.
Seriously, Silva was an enigma, a mythical being, back then.

true but imagine this rockhold vs the anderson who fight franklin or griffin.. once romero used the jab (in the third) rockhold literally died. silva woulda beat that defense in seconds if he wasn't showboating.

anyways i always thought if romero used the jab more often he'd beat the best in mw and would have beat whitaker. he limits himself with his style because he has low activity which isn't good for winning rounds or decisions against busy and technically sound fighters

That’s a tough call for me, because they are both far away in style from any type of opponent each has faced. Anderson had accuracy and a multitude of weapons. It wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities for him to land something. On the same token, Romero is hard to hit and manages distance better than most. Then you add the explosiveness and late fight finishing ability.

Out of all the hypothetical matchups, this is the toughest for me to call.

Big fan of both. But also look at who else he fought.

Cote
Thales
Lutter
Maia at 185

Where would these fighter rank now in their prime at 185?

I was going to agree with you but then I remembered Anderson smashed prime Dan Henderson, who was a better version of Romero, then we Jen I saw what you wrote about Mousasi and Weidman I had to conclude that you are in fact talking bollocks.

Oh, I think he'd destroy Rockhold in his prime.
Just Romero.. I think he'd get hurt badly.

It’s also funny how people think your join date is somehow indicative of how long you been watching MMA. Explosive wrestler with heavy hands against one of the worlds greatest counter strikers. This fight would’ve been awesome and I don’t think such an easy fight for Andy.
