I've been debating this one in my head for a while.

Anderson used to have a good chin and it wasnt easy to rush him, as his counters and distance awareness were awesome. Weidman beat him not just by age, but a very good understanding of boxing basics, and a flawless stand up approached tailored to not being pulled out of shape.

Romero has short limbs by comparison and non of the discipline, but he has Knock Out power in both hands and some very good boxing pedigree, having trained with his professional boxer brother most of his life. Romero has freak athletics, which plays into Silvas biggest weakness, the ground fighting.

It is worth remembering two things here. Silva subbed Hendo and locked up Cormier to the point of sustaining very little damage at UFC 200 on short notice. It is unlikely that Silva could hurt Romero on the ground, but he could stall him and make life difficult potentially.

On the one hand the precision, length and timing of Silva make this a tailored fight for him in some ways. Romeros chin isnt great. Silva measures people up and finishes them seemingly out of nowhere.

Romero does the same thing, rushing people and capitalising on some vulnerability he spotted a few minutes ago. But its a different kind of attack. A blur rather than a precision strike. More akin to Vitor in the first.

Who wins this, how does it look and how sure are you how it goes?

Romero would get KOed when trying to close the distance, prime Anderson Silva is unbeatable once EVER fighter

silva was losing in japan in his athletic prime.

Anderson was just too crafty in his prime. I think he would have destroyed Romero.

Romero was nearly finished by strikes and then quit on the stool against Kennedy.

So I'll say prime Silva, and it's not close.

Silva wins easy. Romero wouldn't get close to him. He would try and strike and then BOOM! Goes the Dynamite.

who has anderson beat in his whole career that is better than romero?

Dan Henderson x Champion 185 & 205x2
Rich Franklin x 185 Champion Forrest Griffin x 205 Champion Carlos Newton Champion x 170
Hayato Sakurai Champion x 168
