Whitaker's chin got cracked tonight.
Once it's gone it's gone for good.
After the first bomb maybe it was safe to continue, but after the 3rd and 4th, that's a concussion and years off his career.

That connective tissue is done.
His brain is now literally rattling around his skull.
It won't take much for the next guy to drop Whitaker.

Yoel beat the living hell out of him tonight.

Its inevitable. Nothing lasts forever

Morbid pessimists plz go.

You stay in a cage with Yoel Romero for 50 minutes and yeah, you're gonna lose health.

He took some years out of his life in general.

Doesnt mean his chin is cracked. Depends what he does from here to recover his brain.

Robert broke his hand as well. Which will force him to take time off of full contact anyway

I've seen plenty of "his chin is gone" threads, but most of them are after a knockout loss.

I don't think I've ever seen a thread about a guys chin being gone after he got cracked a bunch of times but didn't get knocked out.

Usually getting smashed a bunch of times, but not going out, shows that you still have a chin.

That's what happens when you fight opponents a full weight class above you.

I don't know man, both fighters were a mess after that fight, but Whitaker sounded and acted like a whole different person. I really hope he's ok after this.

Pretty sure Mark Hunt took some years off of Wanderlei's chin in their fight and then Mirko completely finished it off.

I have to disagree with you. If he takes a break from sparring for the next few months that is adequate time for his brain to recover for the most part.

I hope he retires within the next five years though. The only game opponents he has to fight are Weidman and Gastelum. I don't think Luke has any advantage in this fight outside of kicks and physical strength. With that said, Luke kicks hard and I'd hate to see him become champ due to TKO via knee injury.

Imo if you're at the top of the game it's best to retire in the end of your prime and enjoy the money and brain cells that you have left.

I doubt his brain is going to recover from damage like that. It might adapt and work around damaged tissue but that's brain damage for you.
