Romero could have been the GOAT if he came into this sport 5 years earlier

The fact that he’s 40 and still doing what he’s doing is crazzzyyy. I wonder how the MW division would have looked with him if he got into MMA 5 years before he did.

No doubt he would be middleweight goat. If he had started earlier.

He could. But he could also have lost some fights badly alonge these five years, and he could then have ended up aging a lot more in MMA years.

My point is it's impossible to know.

Rockhold is half the fighter he was before bisping ruined his life

Don't get the Romero hype

>Implying Rockholds chin wasn’t already destroyed by Vitor

That being said Rockhold has always been a decent opponent. Romero is a beast.

Would rather have seen Cormier enter 5 years earlier. Far better fighter overall.

Silva woulda sliced him up 5 years ago. Not even competitive.

Depends if you consider him better than a prime Vitor?

Which in turn begs the question... would he have beat prime Anderson??

Same could have been said about a lot of people.
Lesnar for example.

its funny people still listen to joes podcast and making threads about every thought he has

Nothing to do with his chin or belfort, he took that loss in his stride and still had his self belief and cruised his way to the ufc title

He's gone mentally after the bisping fight

Doubt he will ever recover and it's because he knows it's his own fault for underestimating a ufc veteran

went pro at 50 after doing a few mma classes for fun and went undefeated.

The A-level athlete meme is absolutely true and guys like Romero are just the tip of the iceberg. If they offered some real pay, you'll see more of them while in their prime.

Silva was being juiced to the max before. He would get inside the matrix and die (figuratively speaking).

Would have been interesting... The guy is a monster. He would finish most... Prime Silva vs 35 Romero might have been a fight we still talk about.

Everything's timing in this game only way we kno who beats who if we got a time machine and some inter dimensional octagon portal where it's only prime vs prime duke it out

Very fair point there.

But just to touch on the Belfort point... whatever affect Belfort had on Rockhold, the fact we ask that question compliments my previous point...

If you're considering whether Romero could've attained GOAT status you have to ask if he was better than Vitor. I'm not convinced that he would've been.

He would have ran into TRtor and been exploded on.

Romero may be good in the third, but he wouldn't last that long

He was Kod by Fejaoi when he was like 35 right?

In my opinion, had he come to the scene earlier, he would have been stopped by Silva. At the end of the day, he was tkoed by Silva's training partner Feijao a few years back. Silva was on a whole other level during his run. Having said that, Romero can still have a very strong case at being MW GOAT with a few more wins including winning the title from Robert
