Arlovski age 46 and yoel Romero

UFC cut these 2 fighters Romero was a top 5 caliber guy at the time arlovski was cut he was top 5 calibur also and he was cut during UFC weakest hw division era..

Both guys who fans loved where cut due to there age yet they are standing the test of time. I would like others opinions if they agree on these cuts or if they think the UFC made a big mistake. Like I do.

Romero had amazing tdd and was Olympic level wrestling back ground a guy with a style that could fight Khamzat or rdr.. and as it seems even at his age could win and compete.

Arlovski was never a giant hw but he had great striking. who made the great hype hope aspinal become a panic wrestler.

I think those 2 would benefit the UFC still today.

I like Andrei but he was abysmal to watch in later stages of his career. Can't blame him at all for the more safe approach style, it worked well for him and it was the right thing to do. But I understand from UFC perspective why they cut him, he wasnt super cheap either probably.

Romero and his hesitant nature inside thr cage wasn't doing him any favors either. Him having the TS against Adesanya and doing dancing in the air instead of fighting was frustrating. At least he always had that crazy burst moment possible with him so you were always kind of at the edge of your seat watching him fight.

Romero's lack of activity in his later fights was a headache.

He also did absolutely fuck all in his first Bellator fight too as I recall, apparently because he didn't realise it was only 3 rounds 😂 which is just weird.

He's regained his mojo a bit since then with 3 wins in MMA (2 kos) and 3 in dirty boxing & bare knuckle all by KO.

Arlovski was on a 4 fight losing streak, and an even longer boring as fuck fight streak against low level fighters, all while making more than the majority of the roster. I want fighters to get paid their worth, but you have to at least earn it. I have to assume this is a troll thread as you said he was top 5 caliber when he was cut. I mean fucking hell man.

You mean when Arlovski was cut in 2008?
Because the last time he was cut, he wasn't close to top5, not even top15 and had 10 terrible fights in a row.

Fuck outta here son

Aint no one want Arlovski back

Fuckin fairy tales

Romero wasn't cut...do people not understand free agency? Obviously Romero could have stayed in the UFC, he just had a better offer somewhere else.

Arvloski was boring and on a losing streak to unranked opponents.

Maybe if Arlovski had that same energy he did in the travis browne fight definitely.

AA fan from back in the day. I saw his 2nd UFC fight live(loss)! I don't want him back. I just want it to be 20 years ago!

Arlovski was like 45 when he was cut and was going to split decs with the worst of the division. Likely was getting paid 1 mill+ to have a stinker fight and often losing to a slob hw. Definitely was not top 5. Yoel Was much better but he likely had an expensive contract and was old himself.

Both likely still can win fights against the current rosters tbh but when a 50 yearold beats a 25 yearold up and comer thats a bad look for the ufc. Also hard to pay these guys millions to have competitive fights with bottom paid low tiered fighters.

I personally would love to see Ufc keep these old guys who still have that dog in them and pair them against other washed legends until its not safe to do so. Basically a legends division. Id rather see Arlovski fight Overeem in a main event for an apex than 2 top 15 ranked females fighting for nothing. But based on GFLs success maybe that's a terrible business idea

WTF did I just read

Arlovski was nowhere near top 5 "calibur" when they cut him.

He had been conning the UFC fighting the worst fighters they had into light sparring session division for years. I was rooting for him at the end because he had found a glitch in the system and he was exploting it for a lot of money.

Had he won the Buday decision he would have probably get a few more fights.
