I videotaped some of class last week, i rolled like shit, but thought i would upload anyway for your critique. I am the one with the shortest hair.

You are telegraphing which way you are going to sit out from turtle, you are stepping up and that allows your opponent to circle around the other side. It's the age old "sit out" vs "short sit" debate in wrestling. Instead of stepping up look to just collapse over a leg and that should negate some of the anticipation. I'm still on the first half of the video I'll look some more.

next video:

you might have to wait a little before clicking it, youtube is still processing it

when I watch video of myself -i learn alot from mistakes I didnt even know I made lol

good videos

after class i was annoyed with myself on how lazy i was, it was like having the camera there made me roll like shit, of course the next week when the camera wasn't there, i was on fire and smashing everyone.

second video, your armdrag right off the bat, you tried to keep your hips stationary on the drag. It might have been fatigue from the first roll, but you need to create an angle. I'll give it another look here in a few, and maybe get some more info out to you.

it wasn't fatigue so much as laziness... sometimes i forget that i need to be agressive, and it shows, all night i kept half-heartedly attempting to sweep like in slow-motion, and everything was telegraphed, like i was grappling under water.

more mat time, that always a goos start and ask the higher belts question about postion. and whaT YOU COULDVE DONE to reverse some of the postions you were in. nice post more people shuld do this . it always nice to see other peoples game thanks for the post it was cool

for some reason i always thought you was a purple belt.

don't know why but thats what i always thought

yea..it looks like you are very tentative. We all have days like that, so no worries. You probably already know this, just be more aggressive. You're being way too nice, it seems.

You also had an easy sweep that you missed when you had x-guard. just push your legs out and make him do the splits while getting top position.

Also, when you got stuck in that triangle, you postured nice but you posted up the wrong leg. Always post up the same side leg as the arm getting triangled.

Yeah thats mainly what i saw. At the beginning you let him get the underhook in your half guard but it didnt matter.

Keep at it Matt Brown!
