Rogan turns commentary into an intelligence contest...

That's why I love when D-Cruz is on the mic with Joe...because he calls out all of Joe's bullshit banter.

(Khabib GNP'ing Conor mercilessly)
"I THINK CONOR'S TRYING TO GAS KHABIB OUT!"

Dom: Um, I think he's just getting his ass beat Joe.

You joking?

The only events now I really listen to the colour commentary is when Bisping or Cruz are on the mic.

I can't stand listening to either DC or Rogan. DC is relentless trying to come off as the good guy, the nice guy, the right guy. Rogan is lucky if he can restrain his own biases when it comes to calling a fight and rarely calls it straight down the middle.

"Oh fans, look at this. Don't let the punches to Nick Diaz's face fool you... this is all part of his plan. He is trying to maneuver into position to land that Peruvian Necktie, but his opponent just doesn't see it coming! Oh wait, no Diaz was just adjusting his cup and giving his opponent the finger because he ran the clock out and Diaz lost. OMG, it could have been so much worse and his opponent has no idea how lucky he was that Diaz didn't have an extra 10 minutes, a game plan, and all the stars in alignment!"

Joe's got his certain biases, like calling a guillotine at the first possible glimpse of one, but everybody's gonna have their quarks too. I liked Goldy and I still like Joe. Seems like the people who have the most problem with him have a chip on their shoulder about their own intelligence. Feeling a bit insecure I think. Joe is just saying what he knows, it's his job.

I agree that Joe isn't bad. His good at managing conversation and is a color commentator. His paid to give opinions not call a play by play. He handles the post interviews well when fighters go off the rails. Does he say some stupid shit? Yeah, but who doesn't. It is a color commentary not a technical analysis. The fact his tried to experience some of what the fighters experience gives a relatable experience.

Don't see how the current commentators are any better. They get complained about almost every event. Don't remeber Goldie getting shit on THAT much
People getting shit on has nothing to do with how good they are. There are internadz out there who will shit on Michael Jordan's BB skills. Those people likely have more of a problem with the success these 2 dudes have attained in life. And how inadequate it makes them feel.

Anik annoys the crap out of me.
Rogan is the same every fight.
DC is just a big shmo.
Bisping? I don't like the guy but he says some funny things
Cruz is good but can be a bit boring because his voice naturally has a sleepy quality about it.
I kind of like Felder overall.

Back to the thread focus, wouldn't it be amazing if Rogan called just once, "OHHHH!!! He's only slightly hurt! Going for a submission... it's not tight at all! This could be it-- but probably not it right now but it could be it later in the fight! It's not over!"
You don't sound very happy. Here. Have some internet dankazzkush

Joe rogan has a big head for his height, so he is smarter than most manlets, but still stupid in comparison to the average sherdogger.
We all have heads like drew dober / RDA for maximum brain space

Goldberg was the best they could get at the time, and Rogan is kind of grandfathered in at this point. Cruz is my favorite commentator but I'm aware that people hate listening to him. And also underhooks.

hard to host an intelligence contest when you say as much stupid shit as he does

Dom is actually the worst commentator in my opinion

Totally man. He's the color guy, and you'd be hard-pressed to find another commentator who genuinely loves MMA as much as Joe. I mean, we've literally seen the man cry just talking about MMA. And the dude really does know a lot. Anyone who spends hours and hours talking on record is gonna say some shit that annoys you, it'd be weirder if it didn't. Joe can be a strong flavor to digest, but he's a UFC staple and almost institution with his podcast. I'll be glad for Joe to stick around as long as he wants.

Hahaha, that's gotta be the best retort for those who say Joe is the worst: UNDERHOOKs!

Oh, and also: THUG ROSE! THUG ROSE! THUG ROSE! THUG ROSE! THUG ROSE!

I'm also noticing the people who don't like Joe DO LIKE Dominic Cruz being a passive-aggressive little contrarian know-it-all on the broadcast. Figures

That strong flavor is what the UFC wants. He certainly has passion and it is actually fine to have some bias. That is being a human. What is worse than being talked about? Not being talked about at all.

Go back and listen to Goldberg and then listen to Anik doing the same role. I used to think Goldberg was good but it's just nostalgia. He is absolutely horrible at his job and the only reason I really didn't notice it too much back then was because the fights were so damn good I didn't pay too much attention <45>

I couldn't agree more. EVERYONE is gonna have their biases, quirks, and tangents. If they don't, you end up with Blandy McBlanderson. And no one wants that. At least Jon Anik gambles

Like what dude? What are you referring to that makes him "bad at his job" compared to Anik?

I don't really know how to put it into words.. but he sounds awkward and doesn't flow that well between what he has to say especially when you compare with people working with ESPN etc. I am not trying to hate on Goldberg but that's just why I think he got let go.

That sounds to me like a personal distaste for his overall sound and how he does his job. That's completely fine, but it isn't an objective criticism of the dude. We all have people we'd just rather not

I don't need to go back and listen, I'd take him over Anik 10/10 times.
