Rogan: "Khabib is a very magnificent talent and we are lucky to watch and witness it."

Very few fighters grew up wrestling bears, people may take it jokingly but go watch bears wrestle each other, they know how to grapple. All animals know martial art techniques when they fight it's a battle to get a dominant physical position. Just by watching animals like bears wrestle you can learn fundamentals of grappling, grappling with one as your body is developing, he might have the best p4p grappling in the UFC. Certainly very dominant and only roid heads have given him troubles but were still beaten.

He's talented at his main strength which is Freestyle wrestling/judo hes fighting a bunch of guys who aren't used to freestyle wrestling. You match him in there with an actual legit wrestler from Dagestan and he would be easily defeated. Most of the athletic talent from Dagestan / Chechnya go to wrestling not MMA it's the athletes who can't hang with the wrestlers that go to MMA. Only in recent years has MMA even become legitimate over in that region. He hasn't fought any top level wrestlers at his weight because there are none he's just overwhelming his opponents with grappling to wrestling transitions.

You want to see the best talent out of Dagestan you look at their top wrestlers , the only reason Khabib is in MMA is because he can't hang with the top wrestlers.

The Rogan hate is sometimes so over the top on Sherdog.

One man can't have a subjective opinion? I may not agree with some of his calls and claims, but he's a fan like (most of) us, and never prophesizes to be the #1 MMA guru.

That being said, I personally feel he promotes the sport to the world better than any other public figure.

And Khabib? He's undefeated and had not just beat the current champ, but ragdolled him. No one in the division has ever showcased that kind of raw power. What is so wrong with what Joe is saying? I 100% agree with him here.

He's no Rousey Howdy Ronda, a once upon a time in a lifetime that is ever once in human history. o_O

You ever asked yourself how a kid who wrestled with bears will turn out?

I didnt ask that either but the answer is Khabib.

23-0 thus far....he is very special IMO.

Too bad he gets beaten by religion one month per year.

Forget all that I want to see how he does even against decent wrestlers who can strike and stop takedowns like Alvarez, Michael Johnson, and Bobby Green. He has conveniently avoided such matchups. The closest he came was fighting an old Shalorus (not exactly a striker either) but even Jim Miller was taking him down at that point in his career.

Unfortunately the grappling dream fights for him like Askren and Maia are at 170.

If you have a fighter who is doing well and Rogan goes a little overboard, you have to hate the fighter, and hope he loses just so Rogan would be wrong?
"A little overboard" is where you accidentally exposed yourself as either a liar or a troll.

I don't agree with Rogans hyperbole, but I have been on the Khabib wagon since I saw his fight vs Shalarous. Definitely a massive talent and some of the best all round grappling I've ever seen in MMA

Don't do this again, Joe...

He's one of the most well rounded submission grapplers in the history of MMA.

The difference between those guys is they only have low level wrestling backgrounds alvarez was a high school wrestling champ, johnson was a top ranked njcaa wrestler representing his community college, Bobby Green wrestled in High School .. These aren't top level guys. Listen Khabib grew up where wrestling is actually part of the culture. Basically Everyone in Dagestan wrestles each other they're taught from an early age and they continue to wrestle throughout their life whether for entertainment or actual competition.

Here's a wrestling throw competition out in the middle of a farm in Dagestan

Here's a Dagestani fellow wrestling his cow for dinner

Here's another Dagestani Kid wrestling a bear for fun with some brutal knees and punches at the end.

You grow up in that environment and guys like michael johnson, Bobby Green and Eddie Alvarez are nothing but puppies. Not to mention your surrounded by war and violence on a day to day basis you're going to be a different breed of human.

Yup, this is why the Afghanis and Iraqis are such elite warriors too.

An Afghani Taliban is a very skilled militant and so are Iraqi fighters, you want to underestimate them go ahead you would end up dead in a battlefield. I'd take the average afghani or Iraqi male over you any day of the week.

I agree wholeheartedly with Joseph Rogan's assessment of Khabib.
