Rogan and Smith shouldnt work together

Individually with a normal play by play guy they both are great but together they step on each others toes to much.

Last night the commentary just seemed really crowded. Alot of talking over and wierd energy. Not a fan of three man commentary teams in general. I think the two man commentary team is the gold standard for any sport.

I agree, I'm a fan of Smith but not a big fan of his commentating.

Joe Rogan is either the best or the worst, whereas generally Paul Smith ain't great. I think he must get better in the future though.

Jimmy was directly refering to Joe far too many times also.

It's like hes not comfortable being around him and needs to keep inserting him into the conversation.

"Oh joe Rogan this or joe Rogan that"

I'm in the minority here but I really like Jon Anik. He's a good hype guy at times when something big happens. I like Smith but hate Rogan. He says the most asinine things at times. For instance when he said Conor owes his popularity to Ronda. Its like he wants something to say so bad at times he just blurts out the dumbest shit without thinking.

I really like each of them and find that together they work fine...but I do agree that there is a lot of 'overlap' in their primary knowledge (BJJ) and style of commentary, and I see how that might not be ideal for a lot of fans. They still seem to be getting accustomed to calling fights together too.

no complaints though...Rogan, Smith, DC, Felder, Hardy...they have a great group. it would be the 'golden age' of UFC commentary, if only Stann was still there too lol.

They are really similar in style but it was fine to me. I like Anik too.

I generally find 3 in the booth too "busy". Even when it's just a fighter sitting in on a couple of fights.
I actually didn't think it was too bad for this event, although they seemed to spend less time commenting on what was happening, technique, strategy etc and more just giving reactions.

I agree. Though I did enjoy the shows Rogan did with Cruz where Cruz repeatedly outed Rogan as a minimally knowledgeable blow-hard.

In retrospect I'm thinking that having a fighter on the team always makes things better, like one of the DC's (Cruz or Cormier), but during UFC 225 I didn't even notice anything was amiss; I was enjoying the fights too much.

UFC tried to fix something that wasn't broken when they fired Mike Goldberg.

Joe Rogan + Cormier = Fail (because of Cormier's unprofessional commentating)
Joe Rogan + Cruz = Fail (because Cruz was a smug arrogant piece of shit the whole time)
Joe Rogan + discount Joe Rogan = Not bad, but not great either

The combo should be Alpha + Beta, but not with Anik. The only reason you like Anik is because you have been forced throughout the years to accept him. He's the male version of Karyn Bryant
