No, Not the hair loss treatment.
It's a style of competitive orienteering developed in Australia but it's now world wide. Generally done in teams of 2-5 people, you start at a central "hash house" and have a certain amount of time to reach as many checkpoints as you can in a certain time period. My girlfriend and I did a 6 hour rogaine yesterday and it was so much fun. Some checkpoints were located in the middle of forests and you had to take compass bearings and use search techniques to find them. You're constantly changing and altering your route to make sure you get as many checkpoints as you can within the time period. If you are 1 second late, you lose 10 points and this continues every minute for 30 mins and then you're disqualified.
We had 400 people compete in the event yesterday and it was the most fun I've had in ages. After 6 hours my legs were starting to cramp and you have to really push yourself to get the last few checkpoints and get back before the time runs out. Thoroughly recommend you guys look into it if getting outdoors is your thing.
Here's some pics, with a super lame one of me and my lady running to the finish with 2 minutes to spare.
