On a side note I’ve just read Unbeaten, Mike Stanton’s recent biography of Marciano. Interesting book, especially his connections with mobsters (Stanton is a journalist who investigated a bunch of corruption cases).
It is. He was judged in a court martial back when he was in Wales en 1944. It prevented him from being part of the D Day and what happened afterwards. The case was about theft and violence over two British soldiers he was partying with along with a buddy. To defend himself Rocky pretended the guys were gay and tried to seduce them, which wasn't backed by any kind of evidence. As a result he had to remain in the army longer than expected to get an honorable discharge.
Maybe we'd have never heard about Marciano if it weren't for this misdemeanor.
