Robert E. Lee: Traitor to America
May 8, 2017 8:09 am | by DOUG THOMPSON

Statue of Robert E. Lee in New Orleans: A monument to a traitor.

In New Orleans, some die-hards are trying to fight the American Civil War all over again by trying to stop the city from removing monuments to the conflict from prominent spots in the city.

A statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee stands at Lee Circle in the city, showing the traitor to the United States facing north, his arms folded, defiantly facing down adversaries from the north. At least that is what legend claims in the Big Easy.

The city wants to bury Lee’s place in history in hopes to provide a proper perspective memory of the traitors who fought against America.

People Visit New Orleans for the History, the heritage and the Music, take that away and what do you have?

Besides the Music:

Just a Shithole.

Don't erase your history, embrace and understand.

This sort of trend is stupid.

Why? Are people really THAT offended by a statue?

Also, to answer your question... the food... new orleans still has the food...

If they are unhappy with the message the monument sends, they should just build a statue of a defiant little girl across from him.

Why not put a plaque on there that names him a traitor? I think he should be also holding a white flag to drive the point home.

Most people don't even visit museums. More educational to leave them where they are.

Sounds like personal problem.

Doesn't mean we should be displaying the monuments of traitors in public spaces.

It's the radical liberals that wants to erase history. The mayor is a freakin cuck.

Robert E Lee was a damn good model American. The ONLY reason he fought for the South was because his beloved Virgina was in the Confederacy.

People will remember what they want . . . how they want . . .

Are monuments or memorials not supposed to be controversial? Must everyone agree on them?

I would think as Americans dishonoring traitors and war leaders of a slave state is something we could all agree on in 2017.

This.

Why do you want to glorify a traitor?
I'm assuming you don't know much about Lee. He was a solid dude, abhorred slavery, viewing it as a great evil. Later in life, while teaching, he decided that he wished he could've taught his whole life instead of going into war. The only, absolutely only reason he joined the South, was because he loved his state of Virginia and wasn't going to leave.

If we're going to jump on individual Confederates, Lee wasn't so bad.

Leftists want to put to death the southern independent spirit. Robert E. Lee is an icon to that spirit. Instead they want a Marxist sugar daddy federal govt.
