Legend. No doubt about it. I used to love even his "boring" fights. You just don't get to see karate guys actually doing karate in the UFC. And this mofo started karate at age 3 and was a blackbelt as a teenager, lmao. Gave Rashad his first L and put up some good wins along the way.

He's also just an earnest and hardworking cat. His post-championship interview was some heartfelt shit.

He just doesn't have a style that ages well. All the bouncing in and out with hands down doesn't have much longevity.

A decade of professional fighting, being on the far side of 30, and fighting absolute killers has more to do with Machida racking up a few losses than his style.

this. i remember looking forward to that thiago fight back when thiago was the killer of killers. machida was getting heat for his style aka not being the most aggressive, a complete opposite of thiago. then just before the end of the bell LIGHTS OUT for thiago.
