I do not think the fight in China will happen, the guys in vegas would be super pissed if manny were to fight over there, that and it would suck for us due to the time difference. It would be cool though to see both manny and juan co headline a PPV though.

am i the only one getting frustrated by the stupid pop up on here? shit is enough to make you wanna leave the site, talk about aggressive advertising. I don't fucking ski.

I ain't seen it but yes the pop ups here are dumb as hell. They have big ass one for every showtime fight. That shit makes me rage.

Just use google Chrome and get Adblock. I don't see any pop ups at all.

ok i will thanks.

On topic, China, Abu-Dhabi and Singapore are the only places being mentioned for this. That's very unusual. Normally they just throw a dart at a board with a big MGM grand logo on it. The fact that they're even mentioning this is something different in itself.

Hasn't Arum been talking about putting on a big show in Macau (so basically China but in a similar vein to Hong Kong) for years now?

That's kind of the other thing. We can assume this time their standards have been "lowered" so to speak because Manny was KO'd so they might chance something different. On the other hand remember they were saying Manny-JMM 4 would happen in Mexico last time. I think they have expectations of doing certain things, but at the end of the day nothing gets in the way of the pecking order. MGM gets what MGM wants.

In before Cuban fabricates another story of how he was at this interview and Freddie Roach spit in his face.

Any ideas about why they might even be mentioning those sites?

I read from the local newspaper here in the Philippines that Arum want's Pac to fight on april but he's suspended by Nevada Athletic Commission until first week of april, and can't spar until first week of march.

They're picking from Senchenko, the guy who beat hatton and some other dude with 0 loss. for pac's opponent.

All three have been big targets for boxing in recent years. Promoters and boxing orgs have expressed interest in turning each of them into regional hubs for boxing, like Vegas in the states or Germany in Europe. It could be an attempt to solidify the sport in these areas. Manilla was also another place mentioned from the start but they threw out that idea. It would make sense if they're looking to grow the sport there's no real point in going to the Philippines.

It's also worth noting that Wlad and Vitali are looking to stage events in Ghana, another place promoters have expressed interest in turning into a boxing hub. It's only my guess but I'd wager promoters are making calculated efforts to grow the sport. Although I would guess no matter how good their intentions might be, if the MGM want it they'll get it anyway.

ok, thanks i downloaded google chrome , don't know if it comes on that or what. seems like it's working so far.

it does not come with it. Google search ad-block and it will be first thing that shows up. It helps a lot. Not only does it stop the popups, but all the ads in general.

Casinos/hotels/destination resorts.

In each case its in the proprietors interest to bring in high profile events that cater to high net worth people who will spend a lot of money. So if you come to them with a big event they'll do all the leg work for you.

Think about how promotion worked (and to an extent still works) in the US in the mid-2000's. As a promoter you had a fighter... but you didn't need to matchmake as HBO/Showtime would arrange the date and the opponent. The location would be a casino which wanted people both through the doors and in the hotel; so you don't need to worry about ticketing. All the actual promotion is done by HBO/Showtime and the casino... all a promoter had to do was collect his cheque.

That's what going to one of the above locations would entail; very little risk (as the location itself will likely foot most of the bills) and a pretty nice reward.
