Surprised they put this fight behind Rena's fight on the main card, and also thought this might be a title fight

RENA is more famous than Hamasaki, and NYE is all about getting those ratings

Izawa is showing me something so far. Pretty impressed with her guard.

My first time seeing her on bottom. Her previous fights, she was always implementing her top control game

I'm not sure if I'm impressed by Izawa or kinda let down by Hamasaki

Definitely be impressed with Izawa. In her second fight, she beat the Deep Jewels strawweight champ in a non title bout, then in her next fight, beat her again for the title. Izawa’s striking still needs work, but her ground game is at a super high level. Amazing credentials.

Park got one back for Miyuu.

Yep. On the RIZIN Confessions video, Park said that when RENA beat Miyuu again, she knew she’d have to fight her. Made me nervous that she’d be going into the fight with the wrong mindset.

Between Park and Izawa a bit of a shake up for Rizins Super Atomweight division in 2022.

Yep, which is exactly what it needed, and that includes when Saori Oshima upset Kanna Asakura.

I said in my preview video (posted on page 1) that while I picked Hamasaki and RENA to win, I felt people were just completely over looking Izawa and Park in these fights. Izawa had shown a lot of growth in a very short amount of time, and brought high level credentials with her to mma, which she only started in 2020 because the pandemic had shut down Judo tournaments. Meanwhile, Park made the move to Japan to get a change up in style and to be able to consistently get fights, and hooked up with Krazy Bee, which provided her with the kind of training partners she needed to add to what she already had.

Just finished watching, 2 in the morning here in Australia. Glad Ougikubo finally got a tournament win in Rizin. With Gucci potentially in Bellator for a grand prix, Asakura v Ougikubo III or Inoue after a rebound fight makes sense.

For Sousa, I like the Johnny Case fight if they can get him in.

He has a very aggressive style. Overwhelming. I imagine you were subbed very quickly lol. No disrespect meant to you, just a ton of respect for his skills.

The two replay videos I watched has the entire prelims and ends right before the Rena/Park fight begins, and the other video starts at the beginning of round 2 of the fight and has the rest of the main card, so the only thing I missed is that one round. Is there anything that happened worth noting?

It was actually a lot of fun. I happened at an open mat so it was fun rolling, but it was also frustrating. I was subbed quickly and often in the 8min round. I was only a new purple belt at the time and didn't feel bad when I saw him do it to other black belts also
