Saddened to hear that Rufus died days ago after being t-boned by a semi-truck while riding as a passenger with his sister. He was a legend for sure.

Fifteen years ago, he was “Rufus the Stunt Bum,” a homeless alcoholic goaded into degrading and damaging antics by young men with video cameras.

Then Rufus Hannah turned his life around. He stopped drinking and became an advocate for the homeless. He got married, co-authored a book, reconnected with his family.


He seemed headed for a happy ending.

But Hannah was killed Oct. 4 when the car he was riding in with his sister was struck by a truck not far from their home in Adrian, Ga. He was 62.

Fucking bum fights! First saw that shit in 2005 or 2006. A guy I worked with had that shit...all 3 I think! Fucking roofus!

Favorite bum fight moment was the naked guy running into that restaurant with knee pads and a bicycle helmet...was it a megaphone?! He says that was better than crack!
