Are you sure that's not Paulie Shore?!?

Powerful straight energy. I don't think he ever came out. He is like Mike O'Hearn character but for gay instead of roids.
guys like he and liberace don't really need to. People say earlier times were more homophobic but there were often obvious gays who didn't seem to try to hide it other than not saying anything directly who were stars. I hear that Queen had some fallout in the US after their trans video "I Want To Be Free" but that's really kinda unusual. The biggest stars of the eighties dilly dallied around the gay issue, Prince, MJ, George Michael, all rumored to be gay and MJ and Prince being very androgynous and it only helped their careers at least at that time. George Michael might claim being outted hurt his career but I just never heard another great song from him post 90.

Juan gabriel was a very obvious gay too even though he never came out.

When I was a kid in the 80s maybe early 90s my Mom used to work out to the Richard Simmon's Sweating to the Oldies videos. I would get all embarrassed and shut the curtains in the living room. Lol. She would just laugh at me.

yup, i think that might be the guy I heard about recently, sorry, don't know much about mexican/spanish pop, Ricki Martin supposedly had some fall out when he didn't want to answer Barbara walters question about being gay. If that's true, americans are just finicky about who they allow to be gay. I always thought half the fun and attention given to MJ and Prince was about them possibly being gay. The interest was great for their careers and both played into it at least to some degree. Them being black might be a bit different, as America rarely celebrated hyper masculine black stars before that (after hip hop that changed) but its still wierd how the conjecture seems to affect different acts differently.

RIP you zany iconic fucker! Unintentionally hilarious human being with a heart of gold.

My mom bought his VHS tapes back in the late 80s. God gonna be doing some serious knee lifts shortly!

Ok so.. this is a weird pick. Due to her stubby arms and that tiny looking couch she looks like a midget and a giant simultaneously
We are supposed to be mourning but shit that made me lol

76? Why does that feel young for him, I figured that dude would be sassing it up into his 90s. RIP.
^Same.

He seemed to be old(er) when i was a kid so when i saw this thread i was expecting to see 'Died at age late-80-something'.

Anyway RIP.

Dude was inspirational to a lot of peopl,e helped get people in better shape, and seemed like a positive person to be around. Also had great bits on Who's Line and Letterman. Glad that he got to interact with fans more near the end much like Shelly DuVall did. Rest in peace.

As a kid thought he was kind of an oddball. He was routinely imitated and made fun of. As an adult I appreciate what a sincerely positive person he was, he had a good sense of humor, and was a humble guy. Was bummed when he went recluse, sad to hear he passed.

His appearance in David Letterman show is legendary status.

Well put. He was the butt of a lot of jokes, and even embraced it. But he seemed to be a genuinely good person.
