I was shocked as hell when I first saw the news this morning and has been on my mind all day. In times like these I always do some reading on the cause of death as it might help someone in the future. Liver cancer is very difficult to catch early, it tends to show symptoms once advanced.

Symptoms:
  • Losing weight without trying
  • Loss of appetite
  • Upper abdominal pain
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • General weakness and fatigue
  • Abdominal swelling
  • Yellow discoloration of your skin and the whites of your eyes (jaundice)
  • White, chalky stools
Get educated, help others. See a doc if you feel these. RIP Elias.

Many of us can't afford that. The US medical scene is a miasma of assfuckery. I have insurance and still can't afford to see a doctor.
 
damn, dude always looked in great shape, good spirits and didn't seem like he had any sort of physical ailments

always sucks to hear about someone's passing at such an early stage in life and he seemed like a good guy to boot
 
This shook me, feels worse than when Samman died and that fucking sucked too. RIP gone too soon, I can’t believe this has happened.
 
On a night where we lose Elias too soon it’s fitting some idiot came into my yard and cut my pot plants a month before harvest.

I hate this disease so much. I know billions go to cancer research, but it's simply not enough. For all the advances in medicine, from a layman perspective that lost a few loved ones to cancer, it feels we're still in the Middle Ages when it comes to it
 
@Hellowhosthat I don't want to find your comment on here about Elias's last bout, but Aaron Jeffrey, who was a friend and training partner of Elias said that Elias started feeling sick around October last year and went in for tests. Dude had a whole training camp and won his bout while most likely having cancer, what a warrior. RIP

According to someone posting on his social media accounts it was actually colon cancer that spread to his liver! Younger and younger people seem to be getting it more often

Wow reading that hit me real hard. :( As I stated in my post earlier because of my Colitis history (diagnosed in 1995 at age 7), I'm at an increased risk of colon cancer the older I get. I've had about 10 colonoscopies my whole life and have to get one about every 2-3 years. Last they checked the polyps were benign and simply cut. Because it's a necessity I've always been on top of this. But other people who've never had stomach or colon problems might not feel the need to get the very difficult colonoscopy (which is Hell to prepare for). Recently a young voice actor also died from colon cancer almost same age as Elias. I hope people take that scope more seriously as time goes on... a few hours of discomfort for a lifetime of happiness.

How the hell does a life long elite athlete like that get liver cancer? Take one look at the guy and you know he wasn't abusing alcohol or drugs?

Fuck man, this hits me kinda hard, as I named my son Elias. He was born in July. It's an old family name so obviously no relation but damn.
 
My good friend had colon cancer and died on me a couple years ago, it’s fucking nasty cancer to get man. Super nasty.
I was talking to him in the evening and he was all good, then by 10am he suddenly went. I’m one of the lucky ones to be around still almost 10 years, but myshit is way less aggressive.

Can't help but wonder whether he knew he had cancer back then yet fought anyway, or it just came on afterwards with intense rapidity.
