I’ve been keeping an eye on this situation and feared for the worst, as a parent my heart goes out to the Harris family, Aniyah RIP.

The savage parasites responsible for this crime don't deserve humane lethal injection, they deserve to be served up some old school justice, Alabama needs to bring the “Yellow Mama” out of retirement to cook these animals until well done.

Gotta be an excruciating decision to either make a move for the gun or continue to hope the guy will let you go, get caught, or create a better opportunity to escape. Must have been terrifying. Not that it matters, but somehow I’ll feel slightly better if he was planning to kill her anyway (although we’ll never know for sure).

Exactly. There’s really no such thing as true “justice” when a person is victimized in this way. Even if you’re an “eye for an eye” person, with no problem with the state being the vehicle for such retribution, there’s nothing you can take from a man like this that’s worth anywhere near the value of what he’s taken away.

I really don't want to hear about the 0.001% of wrongfully convicted murderers, I care more about the thousands free on the streets or sitting in jail wasting 50-70k in tax dollars annually.

Death penalty cases should only be considered when there's factual evidence beyond a reasonable doubt and that's exactly what's being practiced today. Your wrongful convictions and death sentences decades ago before DNA and finger printing existed are tragic but should have no baring on today's system

Exactly. Those cases of people being in jail for 20 years do to wrongful convictions is because they were arrested 20 years ago where technology wasn’t on par to today. Most people didn’t even have a cell phone back then.

I’m all for severe brutal capital punishment for murderers. Toast a few alive in a cage and watch those murder rates drop a bit. Gangs especially know that spending years at a local prison isn’t the worst thing because they have friends and fellow gang members in there. They just adapt and join the prisons micro society. Possibly get visitation and a job at prison. Get to enjoy snacks from the commissary, get to enjoy some prison wine, get to get high on some smuggled in drugs.

A murderer took someone’s LIFE away from them and mentally destroyed an entire family.

Burn them.
 
Such a sad story read a new article today. I hope the 3 guys who were involved in her murder live miserable lives in prison.

How does someone read about how this played out, researched this guys criminal record, and look at this pic, and think this guy doesnt deserve the death penalty. I don't think i could even have a civil conversation with people like that.

The judge that let him out on bail for previous charges should be getting a lengthy prison sentence. Dumb Bitch.. And Yes this A-Hole, and I will never speak his name deserves to be put to death ASAP..

Which sadly takes forever. Still waiting for that POS Younger Brother of the Boston Bombers to be put down.. 4 years after the sentence his lawyers are still delaying with appeals..

A lot of people are not in favor of granting the state the power over life and death for the purpose of doling out vengeance.

To many of us, the only legitimate function of the state is protecting individual rights. Warehousing dangerous assholes protects our rights. Killing them doesn’t* (with a caveat that I’ll address later). Killing them serves only the purpose of retribution, and delivering “justice.” We don’t want to empower the state (which at the end of the day means a bunch of bureaucrats) to administer justice.

*Of course there is the argument that the death penalty has a deterrent function that makes it more than mere retribution. I haven’t seen good evidence that this is the case, but it’s worthy of consideration. (This is off topic, but a convict who gets the DP doesn’t necessarily save the tax payer a bunch of money compared to one who gets life, for whatever that’s worth)

The Death Penalty stopped being a deterrent after it became merciful. The gas chamber and electric chair were feared, but lethal injection is not.

"Oh, so I'm sentenced to die, I'm laid out on a gurnee, and fall asleep without any pain?"
