Crime Riot+Looting in Ferguson, MO

Stopped to eat in Ferguson once and lost my way on the side streets. It had a very dangerous feel to it. I wouldn't want to be a cop there, and I sure as shit wouldn't want to be near a riot there.

I believe that was his point, that raiding the local cop station (and getting shot for their trouble) was the whole point.

Thank you for the sanity check. Please be honest, did you get what I was saying initially or did you need the long version?

Since I'm posting I'll throw out the theory that the looters are johnny-come-lately's to the party who use an already established (and agitated) crowd to create commotion as they ratchet up their violence and destruction. If we all had chips we could see who was where when, and sus this the fuck out pronto. Hahahahahaha. Nevermind, everyone will bring their cell phones. Between that and all the surveillance cameras (private and government) out there I'm sure some internet geeks could piece together who did it on Reddit.

You should be careful and aware during demonstrations some of the best thieves plan there riot or big steal on those events when huge crowds provide cover and distraction. Always maintain objective over emotion in crowded events.

Lol at the racists talking about African-American riots.

Tulsa,Oklahoma was the black Wall Street until whites went on a murder spree with the National guard.

This kind of riot is kind of common in Brazil, when small time criminals are killed by the police, the local communities goes on a rampage in the streets and do exactly like the people up there, burning private property.
But instead of burning the local stores, they prefer to burn the public transport, buses are the main target.

They are easily controlled with some good old tear gas, pepper spray, mace and bean bag rounds.

Tropa de choque (shock troop) is the name of the unit responsible for crowd control.

Oh ok, since blacks were attacked by whites in 1921 it gives them carte blanche to burn down private property and kill random white people in 2014?

"Fucking British killed my great-great grandfather, I have the right to kill any British guy I want and burn down their fucking buildings!"

"Some Vietnamese guy killed my uncle....I should burn down little Saigon and attack Vietnamese people!"

Only racist here is you.

Knowing your post history I got where you were going on the first post, but I'm not always that way.

Good thing obama brought us together as one nation under god, regardless of race. Otherwise we might be pretty divided. Solid president.

One curious aspect the St. Louis-area public response to these recent events is that so much of the criticism has been offered from a place of community scorn, promoting some sense of supposed solidarity, i.e. "this is our city and we're in this together." While needless looting and violence is objectively wrong, where is this sense of community when it isn't conveniently accompanying moral preaching? Where is this sense of solidarity when educational districts are being drawn and when funds are being directed? Why can't this concept reach beyond a single agenda and accommodate the policies which serve to foster unrest in the first place?

Very good post!!

I'm not a big 'paint-with-a-broad-brush' guy but when I hear the rallying cry, No Justice, No Peace I associate that with one type of neighborhood. That came directly from the mouth of the elected official (Maxine Waters) who was inciting her constituents. They were more than happy to follow suit and have ever since.

They're not looking for justice...they are looking for the justice they want. I don't know all the facts here (sounds like no one does so far) but I look at this like I do the driver that was run over and killed. The guy went out onto the racetrack and was run over. If he had minded his own business and stayed in his car he would be alive.

It's not just black people who riot and cause destruction to their city though, is it? It's just when it happens we hear a lot more about "those people" and "that culture". Did you have your broad brush out when a bunch of white people (and asians) caused havoc in Vancouver because of a goddamn hockey game? Either time, in 2011 or back in 1994? Fucked up shit happens all the time. A few years ago we had the G20 conference here in Toronto and people were smashing windows, torching cars etc. I'm pretty sure a lot of them were white, several were well off, university educated. Look at Montreal, they had riots last year over tuition rates. Were those all black people? Of course not.

Hell a few years ago David Gilmour's son got arrested for causing destruction to property during some out of control tuition fee protests in London. Do we pull out the broad brush and start painting wealthy, British white people? Or do we just realize that people, of all races and backgrounds, can go full retard when in a large group where emotions are running high. Mob mentality at it's finest. I don't understand it, I think all of the above mentioned people are idiots, and these fools in St Louis are no different.

A 17 year old girl from my suburban neighborhood was lured to Detroit by her boyfriend, who was being held hostage by some blacks. When she got there, she was shot in the head after being raped. Her BF was also shot in the head repeatedly. That was worse than this. White folks have been pacified by the media and the women who don't want us having our traditional roles, but don't get sh*t twisted thinking you have more of a right to be mad these days than whites do.

LOOK city folk, we are sorry that your massive crime rates cause the Police to go overboard, I have also been a target of Police over aggression, and they can have serious issues which require serious change.. We understand. But these riots are more "We can't get our sh*t together because of how we live and act, and we are going to continue to blame outside forces," as much as anything.

Not saying I don't believe you but do you have a link to the 17 year old raped and killed?

Black on white civilian violence is, statistically, more prevalent. However, these are not issues of violence that merely include separate races, but instead are instances where situations are escalated simply because of race. Had Trayvon Martin been white, would Zim Zam have given two shits? Had this kid been white, would this cop have pulled him over? There is more of a political element to these stories than yours, which is undeniably despicable in itself.

And, for the record, I didn't think Zimmerman should have been found guilty. But abuse of power by police officers, especially along racial lines, needs to be diligently pursued and vanquished. I think lack of accountability for officers of peace is one of the most pressing social issues we have today.
