This is a review for the new Ringside Heritage Super Bag Gloves. After receiving a pair of the Heritage Lace-Up Sparring Gloves for review (here:Ringside Heritage Sparring Gloves Review w/pics ) I liked them so much I went and bought the bag gloves to match!

So, on to the details:

Fit & Feel

At 14oz, these are middle of the road in terms of size. Not the most compact 14oz gloves I’ve seen, but not the biggest either. The pocket is neither too roomy nor too restricting. They are just about perfectly balanced in terms of weight.

I got size large, which has traditionally always fit me perfectly, and these fit perfectly as expected. The lining is ultra comfortable and its very easy to make a good fist right from the get go.

Each thumb has 12 ventilation holes which I like a lot and they seem to help a lot with ventilation. The Velcro wrist wrap is nice and wide and feels very sturdy.

Quality & Craftsmanship

The leather is ridiculously beautiful, and only looks even better when oiled. No loose stitching to be seen anywhere, and the padding is flawless.

No doubt every piece of the materials used- the leather, the inner lining, the padding, are all top notch. Ringside spared no expense to make these top of the line.

The brown leather is ridiculously sexy, it looks really classy. The pictures don’t do them justice, especially the stock pictures on Ringsides website. They look so much better in real life.

The big thing you need to watch out for is sweat (see comparison pic of sparring and bag glove, the sparring glove above the cuff has a small stain). The salt from the sweat looks ugly as hell on these gloves and can leave some nasty residue if you don’t look after them. However, regular oiling of the gloves completely solves this problem though, and Ringside throws in the leather conditioner with every purchase.

Performance & Protection

So how do they perform? Ultimately that’s the true measure of any glove.

Well I’m pleased to say they perform brilliantly in nearly every way. The padding is world class for hand protection, your hands never get sore hitting the pads or bags with these.

They offer great wrist support from the wide Velcro strap

They also feel extremely light for 14oz gloves and are perfect for long sessions on the bag.

Conclusion

These are a world class product, and overall a very unique bag glove. For the price they are amazing, and about as good as bag gloves get in my opinion.

What makes these gloves different, and to me the most worthwhile reason to purchase, is that unlike most gloves which look like garbage after a few months, these gloves will look better with age and more importantly, keep performing well over time too.

These are not the kind of gloves you buy and replace in 3 months (or in 3 years).

These gloves really tell a story about how you use them to others, and to me are like no other bag gloves I’ve ever used. The IMF foam on its own will probably outlast multiple pairs of other expensive gloves.

Ultimately, these are my favourite bag gloves along with Winning. The Heritage line really captures what great equipment is supposed to be about on every level. They’re definitely the best bag glove Ringside has ever produced in my opinion.

If you are looking for a pair of heavy duty bag gloves that will last forever and look great no matter how old they get, look no further than these gloves.

great review! I am very impressed with the heritage line.

I'm going to be getting my second piece of heritage gear (besides my 3 pairs of wraps) when the lace up sparring gloves go up.

Brilliant review. As always:)

However the gloves look very different in size, the right glove is much smaller than the left one... And even in general they are not much mirror at all.
Though the leather, velcro and of course IMF are nice...
Winning is Winning... no comparison:)

The gloves are the same size, it's just the angle of the photo because I'm standing next to my lounge and looking across it instead of standing straight over the top of it and looking down as if I were taking a picture of my shoes.

OK, have to trust you:)

Nice review, great pics.

I just realized looking at the pics how unbelievable the plam side of the glove looks. At the same time, the back of the glove looks a little bland. I see the back of the glove on the website and think...well, that's kinda cool. Then I see the palm pics and think, damn, that is fricken awesome.

To buy, or not to buy...

Darn your black soul. Every review like this should come with the money to buy a pair... otherwise its just a tease. The gloves look awesome. Very jealous.

ahh the frictionless lace system smart

Good review...not too high on having to oil my gloves and such every use or having to worry about sweat (I do a lot of brow rubbing when I box...so definitely not for me maintenance wise...or price wise...but you done a good job with the review mate.

The gloves look real nice. Did anyone else notice how the glove tapers the opposite way of most gloves? is this so you land with the first two knuckles?( think the opposite would be achieved) Did you notice a difference when you were hitting the bag?

Thanks mate. I reckon the gloves should be oiled about once per month, and it doesn't take a lot. The glove oil supplied should last easily a year, and if you needed more it's not very expensive.

I hear you on the brow rubbing issue. You'd probably prefer Ringside's gel shock bag gloves which have a suede thumb for wiping the sweat off.

It's summer here so a sweatband or bandana helps me.

Can't say I noticed a big difference, but that's a good observation. The IMF foam is so nice and cushy I don't think you'd be able to feel any difference anyway though.

Thanks also to everyone who enjoyed the review!

If anyone has any requests I'm more than happy to review some new gear as well.

mmaboxing1 - it is definitely an optical illusion created by Blair's camera. I thought it looked weird as well but it is not in all of the photos. I check a few random pairs in the warehouse and the highest point of foam is over the middle finger and it tapers down going in either direction.

Thanks,

Darrin Clauder

Seems from all the pics i saw that it appears to be like that. Blair did not say they were not really like that. Perhaps he can shed some light on it (if im correct can i have a pair for free : ) lol)
