Hello everyone just bought a pair of C17's I want to say about 3 weeks ago so wanted to share my thoughts on how these perform inside the ring with you all.
P.S. I have yet to own a pair of winning gloves so i cannot speak on similarities.
First Impression: I actually live about 20 minutes from their store front so I took a drive on my lunch break at work to go pick up a gold pair of these gloves. When I first tried them on they were very comfortable, felt high quality, and you could tell they weren't going to take long to break in if at all.
Quality/Craftsmanship: I must say these are well crafted and high quality gloves - especially for the price tag ($100). I couldn't find a loose stitch anywhere on the gloves at all everyone was absolutely spot on - maybe someone else has found one but my pair is 100% on point and i couldn't be happier. The leather is very high quality - it doesn't have quite the leather smell you might get from like a Cleto Reyes glove but make absolutely no mistake the leather is great. I got a gold pair so i'm assuming that the gold will fade out as it usually happens on gold or silver but I don't anticipate these gloves breaking down on me anytime soon.
Fit/Comfort/Feel: The comfort on these gloves is excellent - the lining is great. My hands don't get too hot in there which I enjoy. One of my favorite things about the gloves is the grip bar which forces you to make a solid fist. The thumb placement is great - i've got a pretty long thumb so it's always a pain finding gloves that can accommodate that but these certainly do the job. I've seen reviews where people have said these are top heavy? not at all - i found the glove to be very well balanced. As you can see from the picture It doesn't flop over when you hold it by the cuff. Others have said that the hand compartment is a little wide - maybe i've got wide hands but I didn't feel it or see it.
Performance: These gloves really shine here. The wrist support is excellent - it's got a nice amount of padding on the wrist coupled with the fact that I got lace-ups I was all set. My last pair of gloves were flimsy around the Wrist and it was a real killer when you landed a shot awkward. I've worked the bag/sparred/hit mitts with these and my wrist is always covered *knock on wood*.
Now on to my favorite part....the padding. They use a layered foam I believe - whatever it is - it's AMAZING. The padding is the best i've ever felt on a glove. I land clean on my knuckles against the bag and feel no pain whatsoever. Even with some excellent padding you can still deliver some great force. I dropped one sparring partner - nearly dropped another and have done some damage with these. All the while my knuckles feel great. I tore the tendon on top of my knuckle last year so my hand is always getting sore but these just take care of me so well.
There you have it - on a scale of 1 - 10 these get a 15. For $100 you really can't ask for anything else. I'll be buying all my gloves from R2C from now on and will look to get a custom pair of C17's soon.
