MJ is one of the most recognizable persons on the planet. Likely in the top 100 most recognizable people alive today. This chick, albeit pretty, wouldn't crack the top 10,000.

As for Latvians- we only care for the guys that play in NBA (Porzingis,Bertans), but barely anyone watches our local league.
Ice hockey is the No 1 sport here. Every year during the world championship the country stops to cheer for our boys. We have never placed higher than 7th, we have no success, but we're still crazy about it.
It's a shame that Covid is going on right now, because the world championship will be happening in Latvia, for first time in 15 years. We were going to blow off the roof of the arena, but we can't. without fans the tournament is meaningless.
Basketball and hockey can eat a dick, Ice hockey is #1 by far. Even my house is divided when Latvia plays either Germany, or Kazakhstan. Family turns in to enemies. this shit runs deep. <45>
but yeah, every bum on the street knows who MJ is.

Most people over here in the UK have never watched a basketball game. I'd say 99%+.
People know the name of Jordan because you guys go on about him a lot and because of shoes.
Tyson people recognise even without the facial tattoo, but not some b ball player.
