Stop talking dumbass. Yes Rickson is a bad ass. But when one of his little disciples runs around sherdog bragging about how he trains with him and that he would "smack" people "upside" their heads because they do not want his thread to be stickied makes HIM look bad. We all understand you just started training at his Academy and that you are excited, but how about you just stop posting for a few years? Around 3 maybe?


Oh and PS if you are going to threaten someone for disrespecting your master maybe you should threaten them with Jiujitsu instead of...uh...whatever you want to do to him :S.

its not like he said anything worth an ass kickin but for bein a dumbass id like to do what i said plus why would i threaten to kick an anonymous screen names ass jackass, plus i dont train under rickson, i just go to his academy, oh and sorry to burst ur bubble but ive been training awhile newb

must be a fragile guy if a slap to the back of the head would hurt him, maybe he should stop training for safety reasons and where a helmet when he walks around and that is the end for me, sorry DK for spoilin the fun

LOL. It is because of fanatical worship like this that we don't need a stickied thread. Rickson is great at BJJ, he is probably one of the best of all time, but he is not a god nor is he the unbeatable force his worshipers make him out to be.

I don't want a stickied thread because hordes of people who have never trained with the guy or have hardly trained with him will gush on and on about how great he is. Heck I bet there are even a lot of people who think he could go out and win the mundials tomorrow if he chose to compete.

Rickson has my utmost respect when it comes to his BJJ skills, but I roll my eyes every time I have to hear about that bullshit 400-0 record.
 
Much better to just sit back and rake in dough by having a monopoly on the sport, and have 1000 affiliates, yet charge Black Belts to compete, at the same time denying accomplished athletes like Hillary Williams the right to enter tournaments, like another prominent member of the family...
 
Nobody is too happy with what Carlinhos has done to the sport, but he has also done a world of good in organizing it worldwide and keeping up the standards of the art.

True....lets see how this new Gracie PRO/AM works out and maybe things can change in the sport side of it.

Yeah, a good job organizing, his money into neat little piles.

He doesnt have anything to do with " keeping up the standards of the art". He MAKES UP standards, and demands everyone else to obide by them. "And if you dont like it, well F you, ill just take my ball home so you cant play!"

Its ridiculous. Only Black Belts that go by his guidelines can have the privilege to (pay) compete at Federation tournaments.

He has the Black Belts paying to fight, and he doesnt even give out prize money! The balls it takes to do that, im sorry...
 
Like I said, nobody is happy. But Jiu Jitsu is worldwide, the championships are respected and relevant, the rules are unified.

Is he a money-grubbing greedy douche? YES. Does he give back to the athletes who actually MAKE the sport? NO he DOES NOT. Is that bullshit? You're goddamned right it is.

There's two sides to every coin.
 
The issue about this new compulsary registration to participating BB at IBJJF event is interesting. Maybe we should have another thread and keep this one on Rickson.
 
I understand, were saying the same thing.

Dont get me wrong, they put on great tournaments, minus the entrance fee, and ive got no complaints about the rules(just his guidelines). But that doesnt excuse him deciding that he is the WarLord of Jiu Jitsu.

I guess the Golden Rule applies no matter what context is.

The rumor is that the Gracie Brothers, Rickson, Rorion, Rolyer, had a meeting at the Gracie Academy in Torrance. Supposedly they are making changes to Gracie Humaita and starting a new federation where the rules will be different such as no advantages. Also schools will be required to teach the self defense curriculum as well.

This is on the MMA Underground. Some people that are in the inside are confirming this. Rorion even visited Gracie Tijuca in Brazil....which is part of Gracie Humaita. Go on Gracie Tijuca website....its on their news section. Looks like Gracie Humaita is going to learn the combatives techniques of the Gracie Academy as well.

Like I said it is rumors but it sounds legit. Gracie Pro/am is legit...they called me and asked if I will taking my school to the tournament in Sacramento, Ca. I might.....
