Odoms vs. Erokhin is listed as the main event for the FEFoMP card on October 11. I was wondering if any of you know anything about this. I know Odoms was supposed to fight Ruslan Magomedov in the UFC but pulled out with an alleged injury. He is still on the UFC website. I never heard about his release. Any info would be appreciated.

Odoms ditching the UFC in favor of a FEFoMP fight would be weird.
And the UFC cutting him for a legit injury would be weird.

Interested to hear what the story is here.

Who cares?
Erokhin will KO Odoms and snatch his UFC spot.

Maybe the UFC realized Odoms was almost 40 and a decision machine?

More than likely it was a UFC approved fight, winner will get their next one in the UFC, unless Odoms reason for pulling out of his fight angered someone.

I agree. Both scenarios are strange.

When I first saw they were fighting, I got excited because I assumed Erokhin was signed. Then I realized it was an FEFoMP event and got confused. But I guess they announced it in a press release for the event. Sherdog, Tapology, etc all have it listed, so I assume it's legit.

There has to be more going on behind the scenes. Like you said, cutting him for an injury or him choosing to go somewhere else when he has a shot in the UFC are both weird scenarios.

You know what is funny. I could see that happening. The UFC always comes out after the fact about different things and acts surprised. You would think they do their research before signing guys. Not saying that is the case here. It's usually something to do with a criminal history, or an alleged incident from the past. Then when it becomes public knowledge, they react. Hell, maybe they found a skeleton in Odoms closet.

Odoms is a cop in San Antonio, where I use to live. Could possibly have skeleton's but cop shit usually gets covered up lol.

You never know. I'm trying to think of other times guys were cut without even getting a fight. You had Chad Corvin who retired because of a brain issue that gave him an increased risk of brain injury (or something along those lines). You had Mondragon who had hep B.

If it was a medical issue, you wouldn't think he would be fighting in October. Though it is in Russia. If it isn't an injury, but some medical condition and he can't get licensed, maybe the UFC would release him, and then he could fight in another country.

Not sure. I am curious though. It's not something you see often.

I agree! Also odoms was signed with wsof before joining the UFC but never fought for them! Something doesn't fit in this whole situation

What I'm hearing is that they released the poster for the event with 8 fighters on it and Odoms is not one of them, can't find the poster though so I dunno.

He could still be on the card without being on the poster.

All I know is that tapology confirmed it first so someone must've emailed them about it. But I haven't seen anything about it on any other English or Russian sites and like Melvin said, odoms isn't on the poster.

That's what I'm thinking. Some reports have Odoms was pulled for an (unnamed) injury and some say "undisclosed reasons".

I wouldn't be too bummed if Odoms is out of the UFC though, odds are he would have went 0-2 and been out of there.

If this fight does happen and Erokhin wins, they need to pick him up for sure.

I disagree. He'd dominate guys like Carlos Augusto Filho and Daniel Omielanczuk.

Yesterday I was released by the UFC. I'm deeply disappointed. I made an amateurish mistake and failed to immediately tell them about a laser eye surgery I had to have done about three weeks out from the fight. The eye is healed now but the damage is done. I wasn't letting anything stop me from competing and it backfired. Thank all of you for supporting me. I hope UFC realizes I learned from this incident and allow me a second chance in competing under the Zuffa umbrella. Right now I'm focused on getting my eyes medically cleared so I can get back in the cage. I feel sorry for my first opponent. I'll keep you all posted.

This still isn't very clear.

Did they cut him for not notifying them of the surgery soon enough?

I wasn't letting anything stop me from competing and it backfired.

If he thought having the surgery would be "not letting anything stop him from competing", why didn't he just have the surgery and then go ahead with the fight?

Did the surgery take longer than expected to heal?
Was he unable to get medical clearance and didn't realize that would happen?

Don't put "excellent communication skills" on your resume, man.
