Rhino vs. Hippo...who takes it?

A full grown male hippo is slightly heavier than a male Rhino.

They got similar chance of push the opponent sidewise and take on his side, wich is attacker's best chance

If i had to watch just at weapons involved i would say rhino, as his horn can do the job while hippo's bite will have problems lock on his enemy as rhino's huge body Is bigger than hippo's mouth opening.
This does'nt apply when hippo aim the neck though

Still 50/50, hippo is more aggressive and his body is better built to move on a underwater slippery ground

I feel even if low water was supposed to be even ground It still advantage the hippo.
I remember a vid of a rhino slipping helpess like me on ice skates while the hippo seem to have zero problems at bulldoze him on the side pushing him in higher waters

It looked like enviroment did a good half of the work there

From videos ive seen Rhinos are really dumb lol... they get by with that horn and their sheer size and strength. Hippos are way more game and im pretty sure 9/10 times a hippo would whoop the Rhinos ass but tbh I dont see how a Hippo could actually kill a rhino but i could see a rhinos horn piercing a hippos heart.

One of the biggest animals I've ever seen was a large Rhino at the Detroit Zoo. It was like a tank. The videos on the first page have to be of slightly smaller rhinos.

True. Until you realize that their shoulders are above your head, and the rest of them is just massive, you really just do not know. I did not know until I saw one up close.

If it's a fight to death, I don't think either one is getting out the exchange without taking some serious damage.

That said, I feel like the horn is slightly overrated. The odds of that thing being able to pierce through the hippo's skin, and hit a vital organ, aren't great IMO.

In contrast, I would wager if a hippo is able to use its massive jaws and bite strength to clamp down amywhere in the head/neck region, its game/set/match. Not that that would be easy. But a better chance than the rhino landing that one perfect shot.

Just looked up their average weights and it seems like Rhinos are on average 20-30% larger. With mostly strength/leverage based attacks in its arsenal it doesnt look good for the Hippo. I doubt the effectiveness of its bites, strong as they are, on the Rhinos massive bone structure.

That being said, im sure a real world encounter ends with the rhino running away lol

I have no experience with rhinos, but I was chased by a hippo once and I was not prepared for the size of that animal. I’d seen them in zoos, obviously, but this was just different. I’m not sure if it was the proximity or if wild hippos grow larger, but it was shockingly large. And I’ve seen hippo teeth as long as my forearm.

I think hippos would win more often than not just because they're so damn aggressive. Rhinos expect to win fights with their initial charge and lose their willingness to continue if that fails. Hippos OTOH are violent motherfuckers that love inflicting harm on others. I dunno how a fat pond herbivore became so damn orney but man, they are as mean as anything on this planet.

As with most of our hypothetical animal match-ups on sherdog, I think the real difficulty is finding a truly game individual to represent each species.

I found another video that backs up that statement. They sort of fight this time, but it's worse than Ken Shamrock vs Kimbo Slice.
