Rewatched Titanic last night for the first time since 1997

Great movie and a great performance by Leo. He deserved an Oscar for it.

Billy Zane also underrated here.

"We will both have the lamb, rare, with very little mint sauce, you like lamb don't you sweet pea?"

"You will honor me"

"I have a child!!!!"

Agreed on Billy Zane. He's an underrated actor in general.

He's gotten some big roles here and there over the years but he never really became the major player I felt like he deserved to be.

I have to say, my memory plays tricks on me when it comes to this movie.

It came out in '97, just one year before I turned 16, got my first job and got my driver's license. But it seems like it was a few years before that when I saw it.

It was good. Titanic was the biggest U.S. movie in the last 35 years(partly due to girls seeing it 10 times). I tried to see this in the theater weeks after it was released on a Friday night and I remember it being sold out so I actually never did see it in the theater.

Man Leo was like the last matinee idol, has there ever been one since Leo? He was huge every chick wanted him.

Leo had poon thrown at him from left and right during that time, he took full advantage of it even his road dogs blew up like Tobey McGuire, and that red head Kevin Connelly, Leo had his pussy posse they were banging out hot groupies and models every weekend.

It's an amazing score. This one gets me too.

I'm still in love with Kate Winslet

Great music. I took the gf to see Celine Dion in Vegas last year, people were sobbing when she sang. It was her first concert back after her husband had passed away so emotions were high that night

Hearing the constant commercial for that show was really killing my vibe last time I was gambling at Caesars lol

I remember a lot of people hated Leo back in the day, especially dudes, after the one-two punch of Romeo + Juliet and Titanic, and constantly seeing him on the cover of Tiger Beat and all those teen girl magazines.

It's actually pretty amazing how much things have changed for him over the years. Around 2000 he started actively working to transition into legit adult roles and was trying to become a real "actor." I probably point to The Beach as the beginning of this transition, but the real turning point was Gangs of New York (which also marked the beginning of his relationship with Martin Scorsese, which has obviously served him VERY well).

And now . . . well . . . he's Leo. And everyone loves him.

No, not on his level. There have been guys who were big but no one has reached the level like Dicaprio was. He did Romeo and Juilet(which was teen chick porn) and Titanic back to back. It was like someone gave him god mode in Hollywood for a time. He kind of went quite with his career after that until '02 with Gangs of NY and Catch me if you Can.

The big 'what if' is if River Phoenix never died would DiCaprio be where he is now? Apparently Phoenix was lead choice for Leo's breakout films like Basketball Diaries.

That's a good question. Maybe they would've built up a big rivalry.

I think Titanic is an excellent movie, I re-watched it a few years back, might give it another watch again soon.

I view it as technically awesome and engaging enough as an entertainment, but not anything I would really sit through all the way through again.

Thought both Titanic and Avatar were wank.

Watched them both when they came out and have no intention of ever seiing them again.

Like I mentioned in the OP, there are over 60 behind-the-scenes featurettes on the Blu-Ray. I look forward to digging into all that shit.
Yeah that's huge. Let us know when you get through them and what you thought, always cool to see the enormity of the filming process

He deserves an Oscar for every movie he's ever been in, apparently............despite being painfully mediocre. (And I quite like him, all in all).

Will do.

I've been making an effort lately to get the most out my Blu-Ray collection, and that means going through ALL the extra content.
