I must have watched that fight around 5 times and Conor definitely gassed before Nate started throwing his punches. He was throwing sloppier kicks and punches, his head wasn't moving as crisp as it was in round 1 when he was countering Nate.

This is not an excuse (Gassing I mean), and I believe Nate is a tough fight for Conor if Conor decides to sprint trying to head hunt him, because he will not KO him and he will definitely not submit him. That said, there's a clear blueprint on how to beat the Diaz brothers.

Epic fight nonetheless

He was not as efficient as Nate was!

Man even Houston Alexander can go two hard rounds.

The UFC hype machine really fooled you guys.

everyone knows conor gassed like a dummy throwing inefficient wheel kicks. He won round 1 and busted nate up.

but when that gas tank emptied...diaz had several rounds left = liz carmouch could have beat him at that point.

people act like nate is crazy good now, but anyone with an objective brain (who actually watched the fight) knows in their heart what happened.

conors ego thought he could move up two weight classes and still throw useless roundhouses all day.

I'm just wondering if hes going to jump right back into the shittalking or if it's going to be taken down a notch from here on out.

I see stiffness when I saw Conor in that fight...STEEEEFNESS!

I see dat MacGregor get his head squeezed clean off! Clean off! I tink Macgregor bes move back to da midget division.

How good Nate really is? IDFK, but one thing I am sure of, he is a terrible matchup for McGregor.

McGregor has some excellent tools in his arsenal, but I think they are wasted on a guy like Diaz, the holes in his games however are perfect for the tools Nate brings. Nate also has holes in his games, and a guy like GSP has the perfect arsenal to deal with them, but Conor simply doesn't have the right tools. Can he win? Sure he can, but IMO, for Conor to win, against Nate, he has to pray to the Just Bleed god that one hail Mary shot will land flush, because the longer the fight goes, the more trouble he is in.

EDIT, I can't believe I missed your "but anyone with an objective brain (who actually watched the fight) knows in their heart what happened" Nice contradiction there ;)

Energy Efficient McGregor owns.

On a serious note, yes he gassed, but ultimately it is still his own fault for gassing. He will reassess and come back strong.

I like Nate's fighting style, but he will never become a champion. There's an easy pathway to beat him and his brother: kicking the hell of their legs to decrease their mobility. Connor overconfidence prevented him to adapt a little bit his style to explore Nate's major weakness. He went for the head hunt, which is very tiring and useless against Nate.

He was being overly aggressive because he knows if you are passive against either Diaz brother they will start pressing you.

There's a clear blueprint on how to beat every fighter, except maybe prime Fedor and Dom Cruz. The blueprint isn't the hard part.

Now there is a blue print on beating Conor. Wait theres been a blueprint on how to beat Conor and its to sub him.

His cardio lasted longer in that fight than McG's did.

People who have had no athletic experience in their life or never exercise cannot seem to understand that when your output is close to 100% exertion that's not going to last very long, it doesn't matter how good your cardio is. If a marathon runner decided to sprint his hardest right from the gate, he wouldn't perform anywhere near the same way he does either before his body gives out.

Bro I train, compete, and teach.

It's cool though.

Weed beats speed.

Puff puff give beats power

Diaz Bless

Part of that blue print has faded though. I think most people would assume it's grapple-fuck them and throw a lot of leg kicks. In Nates previous, and perhaps best, outing against Michael Johnson he showed substantially improved defense (aka - some) against leg kicks.

One thing that I think people have overlooked with this last fight is that Nate has several physical attributes that make him harder for Conor to deal with. Nate is taller and has longer reach. In addition he's also a south-paw which makes it harder for Conor to reach him with his best weapon - the big left hand.

Not to take anything from Nate though. He's looked fantastic his last two fights and I hope he finally manages to win a title fight.

Conor thought Nate would have no gas and counted on pressure to victory. Ooops.
