I remember watching this fight the first time around and could not be more certain that Hendricks had won. Many times I have fallen victim to "prisoner of the moment" opinions on fights, a great example was when I chose Alex over Jon Jones in their bout, upon a rewatch - no way did Gustaffson win that fight.

So here's another one that I really called a straight up robbery when I saw it at the time. Eventually the GSP train was over, and then... it wasn't. Well it kind of was, because he retired but he went out like Peyton, which annoyed the hell outta me.

Well I rewatched it, and I don't think robbery is the word anymore - but, I still scored it for Johny.

I had it 1, 2 and 4 Johny - 3, 5 GSP.

I thought the most clear-cut rounds were round 3 for GSP (Johny didn't do much of anything) and round 4 when Johny really beat GSP up on the round and did the majority of damage to his face.

Anyone ever watched this back? How did you guys score it first watch? and if you rewatched, what did you score it 2nd time around?

That fight was extremely close. I thought GSP squeaked it out but an argument could easily be made for Hendricks as well.

Yeah, round 1 was kind of the swing-round, the only one I think that could be really argued either way. The other 4 rounds were relatively obvious I think.

1,3,5 GSP. 1 could go either way. Hendricks ran out of gas on the 5th. Last round is where it really counts for the judges. Look at Lawler/Hendricks 1. I remember Hendricks scoring a takedown at the last round. Face it. If it's a close fight, judges would look at the last impression.

Hendricks corner costed him that fight. Yeah he still won but the champ almost always wins when the fight is close. Hendricks could had won it 4 to 1 if it wasn't for what they said after round 4.

See, I don't know if I can agree with that claim.

Are you suggesting that the judges don't score the round as it ends? You saying that because Georges did well late in the 5th and won the 5th round that they went back and scored other rounds in GSP's favor? I don't see that as plausible.

I see the only way you give the fight to Georges is you give him round 1. If you don't score him with round 1, I don't know how he wins the fight, because 2 and 4 were relatively clear.

GSP won because he was accredited a sub attempt that wasn't even close to being cinched up. That is all.

I remember after the 2nd round, they were saying "you're probably up 2" - don't be saying that to a man who is challenging against one of the greatest of all time. Like for fuck sake, keep up the urgency.

It seemed like Johny took round 3 off, perhaps I'm wrong, but he barely threw anything.

Annoyingly, he kept smiling at the start of every round as well - almost like he knew he was definitely winning. Shouldn't be so certain Johny!

I scored it 48-47 for GSP, but if they fought at WW today I think GSP would finish him. Hendricks looks like a homless guy post-USADA.

Hendricks is kinda delusional, in the Wonderboy fight his reaction to getting hit was hilarious, he was like - those kicks can't do nothing to me - until Thompson hit him with that spinning kick.

Poor Hendricks, he had potential to be a great champ.

The people who say it was a robbery still have it 48-47 hendricks with a close first round ... Dont know how that is a robbery ... Gsp won a close fight

hendrix lost the fight himself by slacking in the 5th i had it even through 4

Hendricks definitely edged it in my opinion but considering it was GSP's last fight (maybe ever) I aint mad they gave it to him. Johny won the title again anyway after that

Oh lord rehash.

Oh, Lord Pretentious.... This entire forum is continuously recycled subjects, depending on what event is upcoming.

On subject, I still have GSP eeking out a close decision based on the scoring system we have in place, though he did take far more superficial damage.

Definitely not a robbery, just a close fight. But I thought Hendricks won and any time I've rewatched it i've thought the same.

Round 1 was the controversial one. I give that to hendricks for more action, damage, intent.

I'd have to re-watch the fight with Hendricks hands wrapped up 100% to know who really won.

I ran this back recently too.
On first watch I remember thinking Hendricks got robbed, but I was watching in a packed b dubs.

GSP took a lot more damage, but scoring rounds he won 1, 3, and 5.

Side note:
That post fight interview with Rogan was hard to watch.
