Hey I'm 5'5(165). I'm broad shouldered but with short arms, my arm-span is the same as my height at 5'5 (165cm). I'm worried about the jacket being too long at the sleeves because the max height for a1 is 5'8... Do you think its okay to go down to the A0 just to be safe or will that be too small?

Go with the A1 and shrink it down to fit. I'm 5'3" and 150lbs and wear an A0 in both Vulkan and Koral kimonos and find that its too short in the arms after washing, but I might have long monkey arms for my size.
