Hey Sherdog, what are your expectations for Renan Barao at featherweight? He is a very good fighter who's trying to start anew, Can he regather the hype he once had by rising up the featherweight division or will he have limited success and continue to fade as he reaches 30 years old???

I think Jeremy Stephens is a very tough match for him. Would not be surprised to see Barao get knocked out.

Yea he got a really tough first fight at FW. His confidence cant be very high right now and Stephens takes advantage of that and KOs him IMO.

Post Usada babyyyyyy
he will get ktfo

If Barao's nearly the fighter Aldo is, he should win this fight.

No one fights like tj.
Speed and movement was his undoing going up should serve him well imo.

Doesn't mind taking the odd strike to land a bigger one and that could be his undoing but i see big things for him.

Away from Cruz and Dillashaw, he'll do a lot better.

I definitely wouldn't favor him over Edgar or Holloway, but if we just assume everyone to be as good as their last fight, there's no reason he can't beat Mendes, MacGregor, etc.

I think he'll do well. The cut to 135 was taking too much out of him and his fight camp. He'll be able to eat normally and have more energy in preparation for his fights now. I don't see him winning the belt but he could definitely be a perennial top 10 fighter who puts on a good show

He'll still have a long reach for his new division. I think he gets Chad or Frankie next (if Frankie loses to Jose). They might also give him Lamas. If he can pass these tests I think he would be a very fun fight against Conor for the title, once Diaz again shows Conor that he belongs at FW.

I thought he matched up well against cruz, not seeing this happen is the biggest downside of the move.

I've got Barao winning this. Can't believe so many think Barao has become a mediocre fighter since his losses to one fighter.

Agreed I'm picking him to win too, That's the fight game for ya

call me crazy..

he looked like SHIT in his last 3 and has over 30 fights at a young age

he´s done. might win like he did against mitch gagnon, but I don´t see him showing his vintage form anymore

hope not, but i see that...

definitely a possibility, I think he showed a ton of heart in the TJ fights. I think he can come back from those loses.....
