Could you imagine the look on NBC's faces when those 65,000 racist hicks from Martinsville, VA didn't bother the men at all? Keep in mind this was a climate where 9/11 was much fresher in people's minds.

Perhaps, NBC was seeking dat sweet victim-hood/oppression like my boy Jussie and couldn't find it so they tried to take matters into their own hands.

It's not like they were chanting Death to America or burning effigies. They had reports of certain sentiments at the events they sponsored and broadcasted, so they investigated it by having their personnel look like Muslims to see if they would be harassed, which they apparently weren't.

If you think hiring bearded news people to attend a NASCAR event is "baiting NASCAR fans into attacking" them, then you have a pretty low opinion of NASCAR fans.

And to that I say: welcome to the group.

How can you sink so low? I’ll never understand.

The worldview of the white liberal astounds me.

And I’m fairly communist/socialist.

Great thread TS. Need more of this.

Sink so low as to.....not be outraged that, 13 years ago, a news outlet sent bearded employees to find out if there was hostility toward Muslim-looking at one of their events? Man, the outrage porn supply must be low.

It’s simply bait. It’s a bold faced attempt to try and make a group the media already didn’t like look bad.

It’s completely unethical. But to you, it’s all cool. Cuz my team and all.

Thats where you lose me

2006? Right on! What else can we find on these fuckers?

On the contrary, I believe it exposes NBC's low opinion of the people in Martinsville that wanted to attend a race. Let's face it, NBC brought a camera-crew in hopes of a capturing a verbal or physical altercation.

How to spot a bigot: Anybody that puts the word "the" in front of a racial group.

"The blacks", "the Jews", etc.

"The evangelical right"

I wouldn't say your method there works all that great. It does show painting an entire group with a broad brush stroke though

lol yes the multinational corporation that is NBC is my team.

There is nothing unethical about investigating reports of racism. Had they heard reports that people at their NASCAR events were harassing black people and they investigated it by sending two of their black cameramen to work the event, you'd likely get hot and bothered about that too. I would not. Just like I wouldn't be bothered if NBC sent white reporters to an NBA game after reports of racism against white workers.

Yeah, that's a fair enough statement. Although there wasn't really much of a market for "rednecks are mean to Muslims" in 2006. I mean, this was even two years before the "he's a Muslim" smears were routinely leveled against the sitting President. Not exactly a woke time period.

I'm in a shit posting mood-

I wanna see cameras rolling when daisy dukes and a bikini top walks into a mosque. That there could turn into some entertainment.

Well NBC are a bunch of goofs, so I’m not surprised

Also yo TS, I, ready to join Team XBladz

lol "HOW DARE THEY FILM PEOPLE'S REACTIONS"....."DIRTY MUSLIMS INVADING EUROPE AND RAPING OUR WOMEN AND EATING OUR CHILDREN"
But sure, tell me more about how you suddenly stumbled across an ESPN article from 2006 all by yourself and not from some right wing blogger

The evangelical right isn't a racial group

Did they ever run the segment? Looks like there was outcry just two weeks out so I wouldn't be surprised if not. I agree it wouldn't be ethical if they were only looking to air a story of bigoted NASCAR fans. If they would also have run a story showing, that despite the post 9/11 rhetoric these fans were accepted and treated fairly, then this outrage is misplaced.
