Remember when Zombie strangled Doostin?

Zombie won his last fight by completely outwrestling Ige, who is an elite grappler.

He didn't wrestle with Ortega because Ortega could actually threaten him with a guillotine or his guard. Volk won't have that threat. KZ can beat Volk on the feet or on the ground.

Then again maybe I'm a KZ fanboy because KZ won me good money against Garcia/Hominick/Poirier.

To be honest, I'm not super sold on Ige being an elite grappler. I rank him as good, but not that good in that area.

There is still the grappling threat from Volk. Volk is stupidly strong (dude was a concreter here in Aus). Failed tds from Zombie are just going to wind up with Volk on top and lots of GNP. Zombie isn't going to be able to deal with that.

I mean, Elkins is a great pure wreslter as well, and Volk mauled him with complete ease.

And with Ortega, all anyone went on about was how much Ortega improved, but that wasn't really the case. He was the same, but Zombie made him look good. People were carrying on like just because Ortega outstruck KZ so easily then he would walk through Max and Volk now with no issues, which was so incredibly wrong.

I guess we'll see what happens though. I think Volk has the advantage everywhere, and he can finish it everywhere, but that doesn't mean KZ can't win either.

This was one of my favorite MMA sequences. Frenetic pace, and the Korean Zombie expertly rolled with that double leg takedown by Dustin into full mount

Charles implemented essentially the same game plan: pressure, pace, made Doostin mentally break and then tapped him out. It just goes to show although fighters can develop, strengthen weaknesses, beneath it all they still have the same tendencies and weaknesses. The more uncomfortable you make them, the more they revert to base instincts.

volk wins easily. i dont see any path to victory for KZ unless we get some scramble into a sub like during the ortega fight.
